Scarface: The World Is Yours coming to the Wii

Wii News | Basically a port though.
Overseas gaming mag NGamer has revealed that Scarface: The World is Yours is set for release on the Wii. The game was released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox late last year.

According to the Nintendo magazine the game will be a direct port of the console versions, except with a few Wii inclusions. You'll be able to wave your chainsaw around with the Wii Remote and the speaker will even sound like a saw, so you can really feel that execution.

We first reviewed Scarface a few months ago and thought it was rather enjoyable, so why not read our review and see what Wii owners have to look forward to?

Still, it's not bad for someone who does'nt already own the game, & once you compare it to the version that would've already been released on the Xbox & PS2, it's going to look more graphically pleasing.

^ The article says it's a direct port except for the Wiimote functionality, and even the XBOX version looked pretty bad (I played it quite a bit) so I'm not holding any high hopes for this.

The Wii is turning into a PSP for now then? Lots of ports with a scattering of fairly decent games?

Not at all. The PSP ports are downgrades in graphics, gameplay and loading consitency. The Wii ports are added with motion sensing functionality.

Please remember that the Wii has only been out for a few months.

It is good to see that this game is getting a port because the Wii needs these ports to get itself established with lots of games in its library. In my opinion the Wii really needs to get itself established with as many ports as it can now because I think that in the future there will be less and less Wii ports because of the improved gap between the 360 and Wii as the 360's power is tapped into. It will either be, make it exclusive or don't make it at all.

I didn't expect to see this game being ported across. I would have never imagined it with the amount of violent GCN ports.

When the Wii and PS3 were first out Gametrailers did interviews with different execs about the consoles called the Bonus Round. When talking about the Wii it had Peter Wanat who worked on Scarface saying he would love to do a Scarface for the Wii, shame it is a port though. I guess its to see if those sorts of games would work on the Wii

I love it how ports for Nintendo are a good thing whereas on everything else it's bad (i.e. Xbox 360 launch).

The reason so many ports are happening is this time last year before the hype nobody thought the Wii was going to be successful, I remember EA bitching about it whining how it wasn't fair that the Wii got alot of hype because they were not ready for it.

The thing that will drive the Wii will be games that will not work on the other systems as well as others that during the design really had the Wii in mind. I have played COD3 on the 360 and Wii and its a simple case of "graphics vs gameplay" for me. 360 one looked prettier but in my view the Wii version plays better because I get alot more accuracy (like I do with a mouse) than a conventional controller.

3rd parties need to think differently if they really want to make money out of this console.

I love how Wii is supposed to be a different market but is still trying to port the same type of games. Quite honestly I see a repeat of last gen....a couple of good 1st and 2nd party titles from Nintendo and not much else. Sad because it's doesn't seem like it's Nintendo's fault all the 3rd parties are being lazy. Even Ubisoft need to really stop and take some time polishing their games and not just being content on coming up with different gameplay ideas and throwing them into a mish-mash of a game.

3rd parties are still trying to work out how to really take advantage of it but some have some good ideas.

Ubisoft: I think Red Steel only lacked graphically wise, otherwise it was really good, Rayman was a step in the right direction and I am slowly warming up to GT Pro Series and Splinter Cell wasn't bad but nothing special. Farcry, Monster 4X4 were jokes

Sega: Super Monkey Ball is really cool, and suits the Wii better than any system its ever been released on. Sonic is a we'll wait and see

EA: Nothing good yet but Tiger Woods and SSX may be able to pull it off. The Wii should be THE system for sport games like the sports demonstrated in Wii Sports and also I think Cricket would also be a good idea as well. I have always been a fan of SSX, and if it controls similar to that of Downhill Jam, I will be sold.

Others: Elebits and Trauma Center are perfect examples on how to program for the Wii, simple fun quirky Japanese games. In the last gen they were mostly programmed for the PS2, if the Wii momentum keeps up it could end up being the system for those sorts of titles this gen (it fits the genre better) and if that happens I see no real point in getting a HD console (unless Shenmue 3 appears on one of them)

I can see adult content appearing very well on the Wii, but provided it takes advantage of the hardware well enough. Problem is with most gamers so used to a controller, that could also be a factor that will draw alot of hardcore gamers to the HD platforms especially when graphics have been the benchmark over what is the better console for so many years.

Some of the upcomming content for the Wii looks promising, even the ones that we yet to even see a screenshot of, because that means developers out there are working on exclusive content, titles such as Sadness, Darkness, Orb as well as unique versions of popular franchises such as Final Fantasy and Resident Evil show me they are taking this machine seriously.

I will also point out these stupid ports can just be a test to see what genres and types of games will fly on the Wii as well as boost their portfolio of content., although good stuff is on the way, 1st generation titles are never much to go by and I am very interested to see what exclusives are on the way over the next 2 years.

Let's hope it doesn't, the 'every trick assigned to one button' was extremely lame. Also, you forgot Madden, which apparently had excellent Wii controls.

It also isn't a good sign if a lot of first generation titles are ports. If they don't sell well, what are the chances the developer would have another shot after a swing and a miss? (Re: Factor 5, Silicon Knights)

The 3rd parties that do things the same and not put much effort into it will get near to nothing out of it, they will look at the developers that are keen on doing original content who will be doing well on it and they will think "hmmm maybe it was our own fault"

ports will fail, while original content will do well, and those hell bent on doing the same old stuff are more than welcome to program on the 360, they will fit right in

Well the Xbox 360 is a next gen console, PS2 and Xbox were flooded with ports, sequels and rip offs, and developers for those systems could do well sticking to that formula, if they want to develop for the Wii they have to do things differently if they want to be successful

You're utterly mad if you think Monkey Ball was better on the Wii. The controls are ****ing atrocious compared to the Cube games. Much much tighter with the dual analogue control rather than wrist movements. There's no debating it.

A bad workman blames his tools, I find it simple, sometimes puzzling and fun, how monkey ball is meant to be. I was a fan of the old monkey ball games (except Adventure, that was terrible) and this method of control suited the game perfectly for me

Nintendo consoles besides thier portable are known for having few ports and it has been a loosing point for them in the past which is why they are a good thing wheras the 360 gets ports from PS3, PC and other consoles so it is a common occurance. When most people say ports are bad for the 360 they usually mean it in a different frame of context compared Wii. I personally think the more games that are out there the better.

The thing that most disapoints me about Red Steel is the potential it had. It was coming from Ubisoft Montreal, they made the recent Tom Clancy's: Las Vegas so for that same studio to do poor graphics for a Wii game is disaponting.

The game also had so much potential but I don't think that the controls were tight enough. And then there were the mini games. I think Sonic has a lot of potential though.
