Next Guitar Hero details confirmed

Wii News | Online play and downloadable content confirmed.

Activision has confirmed some details on Guitar Hero III, as suspected the game will be available on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360.

The initial tracklist for the game consists of the following songs:

Paint It Black (by The Rolling Stones)
Cherub Rock (by Smashing Pumpkins)
Sabotage (by Beastie Boys)
The Metal (by Tenacious D)
My Name is Jonas (by Weezer)
Knights of Cydonia (by Muse)
Rock And Roll All Nite (as made famous by Kiss)
School's Out (as made famous by Alice Cooper)
Slow Ride (as made famous by Fog Hat)
Cult of Personality (by Living Colour)
Barracuda (as made famous by Heart)

Wireless guitars will be standard for every platforms. The Gibson guitars will include featurs such as removable faceplates and a new button color design. Gibson Guitar's Les Paul model will be the "battle axe of choice" for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the Wii according to Activision. The PlayStation 2 version will include the Kramer guitar.

"The development team at Neversoft has been exceptional, and we've been able to incorporate a host of fresh new online and multi-player game play modes, along with exciting content into this version of Guitar Hero that our fans have been asking for. Also, many of the top bands and songs we've tried to get in the past are now on board, and we've definitely got some giant aces in the hole to say the least," said Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane. "In addition, offering a new line of Gibson wireless guitars for each platform is going to truly add to the authentic rock star experience like no other."

Activision has also confirmed the game will include boss battles, unlockable content and more authentic rock venues. The game will also include online multiplayer game modes so you'll be able to compete against rockers overseas to see if you really are as good as you think you are.

I only know a couple of those songs. Sure there will be many more rocking tracks though, can't wait!

I have actually, yea, a couple of times. It's very good live as well, especially the way they meld it into the beginning of Hysteria. If I could choose any Muse song for Guitar Hero it would be Knights, or maybe the live version of Stockholm Syndrome - the three- or four-minute outro they add to that when played live is brilliant.

i'd love to get the wii version, but already having the two guitars for ps2 i think that'll be the way to go, though i doubt there will be much of an option for downloadable content for either of those platforms as far as the storage space goes.

This is more like it! Some good songs in there, much more my bag than 80's. I don't see how boss battles will work unless it's duelling banjos style? Also, online multi will be a challenge, to my knowledge no one has done it for a rhythm game yet.

LOL i was just about to post a message telling everyone Knights of Cydonia is the best, but I see some ppl beat me to it. I honestly thought no one'd know it for some reason. And MY GOD it will be so, so mad.
Also, anyone who hasn't seen the video go to their site and watch it NOW.

Stoked also about My name is Jonas (Weezer ruled my life when I was 12), it'll be a fun song to play, and Cherub Rock (SP also ruled my life when I was 12... Billy, why did you have to turn crap?). Can't wait for this game and can't wait to see the next batch of songs too.

I'll definately be getting this for my PS3, seeing as GHII killed peoples 360's and Wii has no online. Also once this game comes out with a wireless geetar they might make GHI and II PS2 backwards compatible too.
