F-Zero X released on Virtual Console

Wii News | Another Nintendo 64 game.
It's another Friday, which means it's time for a Virtual Console update. Today Nintendo has updated the Virtual Console with the Nintendo 64 racer, F-Zero X.

F-Zero X is the third installment in the F-Zero series and originally came out in 1998. The game features a random track generator and a death race, where you have to try and eliminate all of the other racers on the track. The game is available now for 1000 points.

Finally something other than an NES game! At least F-Zero is a step in the right direction with games. Brilliant speed, though the graphics are VERY dated and bare..

Can't wait for more SNES/N64 games.. or am I the only one tired of getting NES overload?

Nice. Not that I will be buying any more VC games in the immediate future, but still nice.

Is the small update due to Turbografx games appearing?

Did F-zero X really have a random track generator? I've still got the n64 version and I don't believe it does... Unless it is an unlockable thing I never knew about....

IMO F zero X wasn't that great of game.

If you guys thought f-zero x was crap you just....didn't......get........it.

It was rough around the edges, but that **** was f-a-s-t.Low poly, no texture crafts at 60fps(?), it was tighttttttt. No other game at that time delivered 4 player split screen at those speeds.**** all over GC fzero imo.

/Agrees with Jibbs.

My personal favourite thing about the N64 version was the psycho-computer-esque track announcer's voice. I was quite disappointed when I found they'd ditched him in the Gamecube F-Zero...

I preferred F-Zero X to GX, because they ditched my favourite game mode, the one where you need to sideswipe every car off the track. That was once my heaven.

Good to see some 64 loving, but I'm not interested in this game, especially for the rediculos prices they charge.

Yay another great N64 game, I hope that people dig into this as it was a great game in its day. It sacrificed its graphics just to play well. Then again, why would you buy this when F-Zero GX runs at 60fps AND looks fantasic? Still a cool game in anycase.

I for one never got into the F-zero scene so this doesn't phase me in the slightest, but is nice to see some more 64 support

Because I'm cheap.

I still haven't finished the two VC games I have (LttP and Mario Kart 64 - not that theres really anything to 'finish' in the latter), plus I have a bunch of other games I'm yet to finish.

Entitled to your opinion but it IS IMO still a crap game. Nintendo do make crap games. Must come as surprise yeah?

Welcome to the first annual Nintendo Craps Tournament.

I love both the N64 and GCN versions of F-Zero equally. The 64 version had more... how do I say it... class? I don't know. The cube was a mean, fast, killing machine, but I was a master of it (you wimps complaining it was hard). icon_nn.gif
