Virtual Console updated

Wii News | Five games make an appearance.
Nintendo has updated the Virtual Console today but it is Sega whose games have appeared on the Virtual Console with not one, but five Mega Drive games.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the headline act this week and is joined by Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, Crack Down, ESWAT: City Under Siege and Shining in the Darkness. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is generally considered to be inferior to its wonderful predecessor but is definitely still worth a download. All Mega Drive titles are available on the Virtual Console for 800 points.

OMG! Sonic 3! You don't reckon it was that good, Luke? I thought it was pretty damn good, especially in combination with Sonic and Knuckles, I wonder if they will make it possible to join them together if downloaded separately or they will release a Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
Now that I think about it, they should probably release it as a separate download because you can use Knuckles in sonic 2 as well... Who knows...

Oh don't get me wrong Sonic 3 is still all class, it's just Sonic 2 is one of my favourite platformers ever.

I preferred Sonic 3, but it is like saying I prefer that nymphomaniac supermodel over that other nymphomaniac supermodel.

Its hard to pick the "fave in the series" indeed. I just hope they add some sort of Sonic & Knuckles compatibility when it comes like it did with the carts

Sonic 3 was only half the game. The 'rumor' (I guess rumor because I can't be bothered looking it up and vaguely remember it from somewhere) was that Sonic 3 and Knuckles was going to be one huge game but was too big at the time.

That's why when you plug them together they go together so seemlessly.

S3&K > S2 > S2&K > S&K > S3 > S1

Is Shining in the Darkness any relation to Shining Force?

I agree with Luke, Sonic 3 was great, but not as great as Sonic 2. It's still better than the first Sonic game though.

Woooooo sonic 3 my fav sonic ever mainly because this was my first 16-bit sonic I have ever played, dont get me wrong I played sonic 1 & 2 before that but on the master system.

Ghould n ghost is also a great game and is also piss hard.

I own both games on original carts icon_wink.gif .

Crack down you can skip.
Shining in the darkness is ok but I never got into it.

From what I remember of it, I wouldn't bother.

I am so tempted to buy all the sonic games right now (Excluding spinball). But I would rather spend it on Paper Mario <3

Get Paper Mario and the term "regret" will lay buried in your mind forever!
