Guitar Hero on Wii to get stereo fix

Wii News | Mono since launch.
While many Wii owners have been enjoying Guitar Hero III: Legend of Rock for the past few weeks, it turns out the game has had a bug since release. Despite the Dolby Pro Logic II support claimed on the box, some audiophiles analysed the sound and discovered that even basic stereo was not provided by the game, and that the same signal was being produced by both speakers.

Activision US spokeswoman Rhy-Ming Poon commented, "We recently became aware that some consumers have not been able to enjoy the full audio output in the Nintendo Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. We are currently working with Nintendo and are planning to issue an improved audio experience in future versions of the game. We expect to have re-mastered discs available by early 2008 and we will be offering consumers replacement discs at no cost once they become available. We thank all of our customers for their support and patience."

Um, I don't think having to download every audio file the game has to offer really constitutes as something a patch could fix...

Unfortunately the storage capacity of the Wii would simply not allow for that level of practicality which is a shame as it would be far easier for everyone on both sides of the fence.

Some? Atleast admit it was all across the board for the Wii prints, you buffoons! Gotta love the PR lady's name though.. Rhys-Ming Poon. POON! Bwahahahaha!

What really irrits me is that these idiots have the nerve to go and attack Harmonix by saying that their Fender guitar periperhals are dodgy and thus they wont support such a 'low quality' product by allowing it to have compatibility on their ill gotten gain (ie. the Guitar Hero series). A word of advice to Red crOctane: Take a look at the mess in your own backyard before playing that card and be thankful people are still supporting you.

Although I expect that trend to drop once Rock Band hits Oz. The difference; in my eyes, between Red Octane and Harmonix is that Harmonix are genuine about providing an experience and have a sense of class about them interms of the way they go about doing that. I am yet to see Red Octane display either quality.

I play my Wii on a 51cm crappy TV, so I can't notice at all. I imagine it would suck for those with actual decent sound systems though.

You don't need to be an audiophile to realize its in mono. Especially after the two player mode...

Some people still use a mono tv...
Reminds me of the Hind Fight in Metal Gear Solid...

It's more likely that the content is actually on the disk but is sending out the wrong signals (i.e. the same channel twice).

...Since presumably if over half the game's audio wasn't on the gold master someone would've noticed that the file sizes were off. icon_redface.gif

That sounds like a more reasonable explanation to me. A fault in the coding somewhere, not that every single audio file is in mono.

either way, they really monged that one up.
