Day of Defeat: Source Steamworks update in beta

PC News | Achievements and a new map headline the update.
Fans of the World War II online shooter Day of Defeat Source are finally feeling some love from Valve, with the announcement that a new update for the game is currently in the works.

Currently being trialed by gamers in a beta version, the update will see the introduction of popular features which were first introduced to gamers in last year's massive hit Team Fortress 2 including the 'nemesis/revenge' freeze camera, the ability to display your avatar in both the scoreboard and round win panel, detailed player statistics integrated with the Steam Community system as well as the introduction of new effects which are driven by the particle system - which were introduced to the Source engine with TF2

Also included in the update is fifty-one achievements for you to tackle and the new map - dod_Palermo, which is a revision of the popular community built map dod_salerno.

Current owners of the game are free to join in on the beta action at no charge. If you are interested in testing out all of the new features, head on over to the official Steamforums for more information.

Wow - nice to see them giving some attention to DoD Source. I'm guessing they're testing the waters with upgrading their old Source MP games to the new community system (like TF2's) before they try it on CSS.

For anyone who hasn't gotten the game, it's a very enjoyable and different WWII shooter - comes highly recommended. Provides some excessively exciting gameplay, especially when you get 4-5 kills within a few seconds icon_wink.gif

I love this game! I need to play it more, but I think my Steam's gone fubar on my computer. Anyone know of anyway I can delet the whole thing and reinstall? It's seems to think I'm trying to kill it and I try.
