The news was made via the company's Twitter page, with reasoning for the delay being to give the development team a little more time to polish the game up. Assassin's Creed 2 was originally scheduled to be released on 19 November 2009 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, so it looks like only console gamers will be assassinating corrupt Italians during the jolly season.
The PC version joins several other Ubisoft games that were pushed back to Q1 2010, including Red Steel 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction. Ironically this was done to ensure the 2009 holiday season wasn't overcrowded with releases, but with contenders BioShock 2, Gran Turismo 5 and Mass Effect 2 also scheduled for a Q1 2010 release, Ubisoft might just be kicking themselves right now for making the decision.
