The Weekend Steam - 26/12/09

PC News | Pick up a bargain without even leaving the house.
For those of you that haven't been sent into a Boxing Day shopping induced hysteria thanks to Joseph and his bargains, Valve is doing its darnedest to lure you away from your cash with its annual Steam Holiday Sale which will see gamers save up to 80% off titles for your humble PC.

As well as having a specific set of premier discounted products until 3 January 2010, Valve is also heavily discounting random titles on a daily basis, giving bargain hounds 24 hours to sniff out some hot deals on new and classic PC titles.

One of today's top specials is the fifth entry in a long running survival horror franchise with Resident Evil 5 being discounted by 50%, meaning you can pick up this slice of zombie killing action for USD $27.99 / AUD $31.71 / GBP £14.99. Resident Evil 5 sees Chris Redfield, survivor of the Raccoon City incident on a new mission in Africa where he along with his new partner, Sheva Alomar, will investigate a biological agent that is "transforming the populace into aggressive and disturbing creatures."

Don't forget to stay tuned in to The Steam Holiday Sale page to check out the new specials each day.

Specials available today:
Resident Evil 5: USD $27.99 / AUD $31.71 / GBP £14.99
Battlefield 2: Complete Collection: USD $7.49 / AUD $8.48 / GBP £3.74

are you sure Elf Bowling for $1USD can be considered a bargain?

Battlefield 2 is kinda tempting, probably won't get it though. Bored of most FPS games.

I'd get bf2 purely because its sheer value ratio but the pack isnt hosted on GA. BOO!

Actually, it is hosted on GA. The ID Lookup is failing us all now. icon_sad.gif

Thank god for that because my brought just brought it and I kinda just assumed it was on GA. How are you guys checking? I mean, I don't plan on using it if it's failing, but will when it's working again.

Today's deals - 27/12/09:

Dragon Age - AUD $42.45
Dragon Age Deluxe Edition - AUD $55.19
Lumines Base+Advance Pack - AUD $2.99
Prototype - AUD $22.63
Star Wars Premier Pack - AUD $28.29
Torchlight - AUD $5.65
Universe At War - AUD $5.65

I'm tempted by Torchlight and the Star Wars Pack but I've got that many unfinished games on Steam that I really shouldn't add more to the list...decisions, decisions.

god dammit - i bought Torchlight for $10 (USD) last week!

still worth it though, i guess.

Absolutely worth it! I would have gladly paid $60 for Torchlight, had I that kind of money to throw around.

Everyone who liked Diablo should grab Torchlight - for this price you'd be a fool not to. It seems shallow at first glance, but it's very well rounded IMO. The graphics aren't amazing, but they're very stylish and feature a lot of very cool little details. The music? It's Diablo. Seriously. Lovely stuff.

Singleplayer only, but it's a massive time-trap. I thoroughly recommend it to any ARPG fans.
I caved and bought Torchlight. Unsurprisingly, it doesn't run great on my computer (even though it exceeds minimum requirements), even in netbook mode (and not at full screen). It runs fine when my character is at a stand still, but as soon as I move her the game chugs. It's not unplayable, but it's very annoying. Also, it takes ages to load section. Shame really because what I did manage to play I enjoyed.

^Sounds like you might have some bad software slowing your PC down

Oh and likewise Obs, I brought the game 2 days ago for $10, but oh well win some you loose some I suppose, not worth getting upset over $5.

Killing Floor is awesome. Totally worth a fiver.

I'm close to buying Killing Floor, I don't know though, I just started playing WoW again and it's a lot of fun, and I have a few other PS3 games I am still playing.

I have two guest passes for Killing Floor (and one for CS:S) if anyone is interested. give it a crack Sambo its decent, better than L4D survival I think anyhow

I did buy it for me and a friend. Haven't been able to play it much, only around 10 minutes. Seems good though.

Max Payne Collection is £2.24 on UK Steam. It isn't available in Australia for some reason (probably because you can take 'painkillers'), but you cantrick Steam by going to:

http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=uk

You have to change your country to UK in the checkout, but other than that it' works perfectly. Remember to search for the Collection, the Daily Deal only has the two games separately for £1.49 each.
