Dragon Age: Origins DLC delayed; expansion coming?

PC News | We're not returning to Ostagar just yet.
Players of BioWare's high-fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Origins have already been given the opportunity to download two sets of downloadable content, both of which were launched simultaneous with the game itself; The Stone Prisoner, which was included free with new copies of the game, and Warden's Keep. Fans were anticipating the next downloadable component of Dragon Age, titled Return To Ostagar, to be rolled out on January 5 (January 6 in Australia) for both PC and Xbox 360, with the Playstation 3 version to come later. BioWare however have announced at the last minute that the new content has been indefinitely delayed.

Posting in the Dragon Age section of BioWare's official forums, BioWare rep Chris Priestly said:

"We’re sorry but the planned Return to Ostagar downloadable content scheduled to launch on January 5th has been delayed for all platforms. We will update you as new information becomes available."

Let's hope that the delay is of the brief and painless variety.

In other Dragon Age news, there are rumours of an expansion titled Awakening set to surface in March, which is said to include an entirely new character with their own 'Origins' prologue and an additional 15 or so hours of gameplay. Keep in mind this has yet to be officially confirmed, but given that BioWare made clear their committment to DLC support for Dragon Age leading up to the game's release, we wouldn't be at all surprised to see Awakening come to fruition.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

really sucks actually. I'm currently playing DAO, so the timing for the DLC is perfect as i'll be happy to go straight into it.
hopefully it's only delayed by a week or so, as i'll probably still be plugging away then, and it'll look like a good deal still.

I am seriously ignoring this game - going to wait for the GOTY edition next Christmas, and play it over the holidays...

I don't mind that much that it has been delayed. Personally, after having completed the game twice, I'll much rather see an expansion rather than some short DLC.

Yeah but after having played it twice through myself, I'm not sure I want to redo most of it again with a new character.
But on the other hand I do really like this game.

Awakenings, huh?

OK, I admit. I'm intrigued. What other races/classes could they include? Human commoner? There was only human noble and mage, right?

Awakenings is an expansion pack set after the game so super sweet. This has become one of my favourite games and I have no qualms about spending more money on it.

as long as the DLC or expansion don't include anything to do with 'The Fade' I will be happy. That element of the game really grabbed my goat! But thoroughly enjoying the rest.

Just an FYI, Awakenings has been officially announced;

Personally, I'll much rather have a full fledged expansion than DLC.

Sweet. I also much prefer this (Like Shivering Isles) to small dlc.
