Might and Magic Heroes VI announced

PC News | Better brush up on your spell-casting skills.
Ubisoft has announced that the popular turn-based strategy series is to gain another iteration, with the making of Might and Magic Heroes VI confirmed recently. The enduring gaming series has been active for twenty years now, and the latest instalment is promised by Ubisoft brand director Caroline Stevens to be something special indeed.

“Players will be able to enjoy the Heroes experience like never before. The amazing creative teams at Black Hole are keeping the original Heroes spirit, while enhancing the RPG elements of the game.”

The events of Might and Magic Heroes VI are set 400 years before the previous instalment of the series, with a legendary Archangel returning to life, hell-bent on reviving an unfinished war.

Might and Magic Heroes VI is slated for a worldwide PC release during 2011.

I thought it was called Heroes of Might and Magic or have they altered the name?

There's two different series.

One is "Heroes of Might and Magic" which is a turn-based strategy thing. And the other is "Might and Magic" (sans Heroes), which is a first person RPG.

The last one of the first-person ones I played was "Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven"... though, I believe there is some discrepancies over the naming of the "Heroes" series.. some say "Heroes of" and others say "Heroes" on the end.. I believe that "Heroes of" is more correct.. though they may have changed it officially.

Yeah, by the number of the sequel, I think this is the HoMM series. Watching the trailer, I'm sure of it.

It's the turn-based one I'm interested in.

^ this - not sure why they'd do it, but they have

I'll be interested to see what it's like. HoMM 5 was a lot better than 4, but still not as great as I remember 3 (never played 1 or 2).

Yeah I agree. 5 was good so if it builds on that I'll play it. I'm not an RTS fan. Turn-based is where it's at icon_smile.gif

It will be interesting to see where they take this series, I have fond memories of the earlier releases.

Actually, there were 9 Might and Magic games, though 6 was probably the best (7 and 8 were ok but 9 flopped as 3DO died).

5 was pretty good as a revival of the series, if they can build on that and bring back more of the feel of wonder the original series had, this will rock. I'm committed to this anyway as HoMM #1 was the first game I ever really got into.
