Gothic 3 demo released

PC News | Try it for yourself.
The official demo for Gothic 3 has been released, just in case you had a lazy weekend planned and weren't sure what to do with it. We suggest the first hour is taken up downloading the demo, which clocks in at a whopping 1106mb.

The demo features some of the first areas from the game including Ardea and Cape Dun. In Gothic 3 you need to travel to the realms of the mainland. Invading Orcs have enslaved the human kingdom. There are but a few free humans in the icy north and the southern desert and a handful of rebels hiding in the forests and mountains of Midland. It's up to you young warrior to save the day.

If you're interested in downloading the demo then head here. Look out for PALGN's official verdict on Gothic 3 very shortly.

The Gothic series has a genuinely unique feel about it. The games are open ended, the story & environment is really good and for once the NPC are not stupid. It's such a shame that it's so underrated - as it must be hard for small European publisher to build awareness.

I imported Gothic & Gothic 2, with the first Gothic having quite a few bugs. Fortunately the nice tech support staff where alway friendly and quick to respond. Nice Company.

I'm a buyer of Gothic 3 for certain. If you have not played Gothic 2, then I believe there is a $9.95 (or there abouts) cheapy floating around.

I got Gothic 3 in the mail on Friday and have been playing it all weekend. Apart from some niggling issue (eg/ Hero's arm pokes throught the Shield texture, low level monsters able to kill you easily if you aren't quick enough, long load times) it feels like the game Oblivion should have been.

I have found it to be increadibly open ended and quite real in how it handles factions and reputation etc. Also thieving actually has consequences. If you steal too much from one village NPC's will call you out on it, attack you or refuse to speak with you.

I am really enjoying it. Buy it now icon_biggrin.gif

Aw man!! what a time to have my PC in the shop. icon_sad.gif

Sounds really good and the graphics I hear are astounding.
Love hearing about that thieving has repercussions also.

The Gothic II that is available in the $10 bin is only the core game isnt it? You still need to import it if you want the Expansion Pack "gold" version. It was the same with the original Gothic as well. Only the core game was releases in Oz I believe. To get the "gold" you needed to import.

I am interested in the load times comment Made by Silver. Load times? One of the coolest things about the first two games was NO load times. You could walk from one end of the continent to the other and it was already loaded. That was the first time I had ever seen a game do that. Impressed the hell out of me.

I am a huge fan of the first two games, so I will be getting Gothic III for sure. I am so behind in my gaming and have so many games in my "to play" pile that I can wait for quite a while before grabbing it. Hopefully by that time there will be an expansion, as the expansions for the first two were definitely worth getting.

HeDanny: Sorry I should have been a little more specific. These are not in-game load times but load times from save games. Saving also takes a while. This is quite necessary as even the weakest enemy can kill you if they knock you down. Having to reload time and again after dying is getting a bit old as the load times are so long.

In game load times do not really exist.
Hope thats cleared it up for you. icon_smile.gif
