Enemy Territory: Quake Wars pushed back

PC News | Set for fiscal year 2008.
According to Eurogamer, Activision's latest financial report indicates that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is set for release in Fiscal year 2008, meaning the game won't be out before April 2007.

A spokesperson for Activision told Eurogamer that we could expect the game before Chistmas but "it's an id Software title so it's done when it's done."

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is a first person shooter set in the future. You'll be able to play as either a human or the Strogg before fighting against whoever you didn't choose. The game will include a wealth of multiplayer modes as well, so it should quickly become a multiplayer favourite after release.

My fault. Didn't realise / wasn't expecting download traffic to be so high this month. Had to put it up again past our plan limit.

Pfft. A game gets pushed back one year and suddenly it's competition for DNF?

Prey and STALKER have much worse track records.

out of interest, was there ever an official announcement regarding ET:QW coming out this year for this to be pushed back from?

it's not like iD to do announcements, so it seems odd.

We could expect the game before Chistmas but "it's an id Software title so it's done when it's done." - OMG It' done when it's done! - that's exactly what 3D Realms said every time someone asked about the Duke. Thats what my father used to say about the cubby house he never built me icon_cry.gif

Maybe they dont want to line it up against UT3

Hmm can't say that I have been too impressed from what I have seen of Quake wars.Plays a bit too slow for my liking.
It looks nice and all but IMO for multiplayer games to work well there has to be a bit of similarity to the opposing teams.
Having cyborgs with various abilities different from their counterparts on the opposing team leads to class side favouritism and team stacking.
I just hope they have balanced the hell out of it and kick the pace up a bit.
Most probably will get this game anyway as I'm a sucker for mass battle FPS's.

DNF..heheh...
I remember getting the physics engine technical demo for that game, has similar physics to crysis etc with everything having a physical property, even the planks on the patio on the front of the house so they can deform in real-time.
Wonder if they are using the same engine?
Because it was about 9+months ago I got that.

Funny thing is last time I heard about 3D Realms is that Duke is in fact done, they are just polishing it, so we may get it as soon as 2097!!!
