It really, really, really sucks. I have 4 gigs RAM, a core2duo and an 8800gtx that runs bioshock maxed out perfectly, but this game has a horrible frame rate.

I believe the demo doesn't have an option to edit video settings so that could be it.

Well that's great, how backwards is that?

Oh well, wait for a patch for the demo i guess.Don't fix it!Patch it!

Strange mipac, I haven't tried the demo yet, but the Beta ran perfectly fine on my system, and included all the standard video options, I'm downloading the demo to see how it goes on my end.

I wasn't overly impressed with the betas as it felt "like" Battlefield, but lacking the funstuff.

Yeah I'll try it. If it's any good I may buy. But with a game like UT3 coming around, it's kinda hard to justify this.

Playing now, there are a plethora of options, so may like to set them lower, I'm playing fine at High Settings + 4x AA at 1920x1200

I agree A13x. I was hotly anticipating this title yet the Beta let me down immensely. Its Battlefield 2'esque without the fun completely trimmed out of it. For such a fast FPS title, the weapons and classes are simply so so as they don't really stand out enough to be enjoyable on their own merits..

Keep the movement toned down to realistic levels if you want to include classes that are as lacking as those in Quake Wars, or remove classes altogether (which would make it lose out to the behemoth that is UT 3)... Quake Wars, simply shows that a mix isn't as enjoyable as it could be.

Played a few hours today on both my systems (one's a Quad core, the others a P4) with a mate.

I'm in love. It's fantastic fun.

Wow.. I'm completely surprised by the demo, I was expecting a rather boring Battlefield clone with some Quake-ish gameplay thrown on for the sake of it. It does kind of do that.. but it comes together fantastically. Loads of fun.

Shame it runs at around 15-20 FPS on my system (in sig).. maxed out settings, 4xAA at 1280x1024. The game isn't ugly by any standards but its not excessively attractive either to the extent that I could understand why it's laggy.

I got a chance to try out Quake Wars today at school on pretty much the top settings and it looked pretty sweet and the gameplay was really good. I love FPSs like this that have vehicles, those quad bikes make for alot of fun haha

I'm not that up to date with PC games these days so just a question, Whats this new Castle Wolfenstein game? One of the guys said it was very similar to Quake Wars.
They may be referring to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which is a free expansion to a game called Return To Castle Wolfenstein. It doesnt need the original title to work and can be downloaded as a standalone game. It was created by Splash Damage, (the same team that developed Quake Wars: Enemy Territory).
