Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal Details

PS2 News | A new name for the third Ratchet and Clank game. New details inside, too.
Announced just a couple of weeks ago, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal will represent one third of Sony's platforming trifector this coming Christmas. Tonight, we've been presented with a list of new details on the game.

  • Many more Clank missions.
  • The new villian is named Dr. Nefarious. He's a maniacal robot, and wants to destroy the universe, and everything in it. He's brainwashed a race of aliens known as the Tyhrranoids into acting as his henchmen.
  • Captain Qwark is back, but we'll "see another side of him".
  • Helga (the trainer) is back.
  • Big Al (Roboshack) is back.
  • A new female character, Sasha, is set to replace Angela. Apparently, she's supposed to be some sort of female Han Solo.
  • Lawrence, Nefarious' butler is another major character.
  • Apparently the plot will "shock some people, especially big fans of the series."
  • Vehicles are back, but not just for races.
  • Training options expand upon the Arena theme, allowing Ratchet to level up more.
  • Runs off the same core engine as Jak III.
  • Better graphics and particle effects.
  • Better NPC intelligence.
  • More new weapons, including the "Rift Inducer" which creates black holes, and the Infector, which poisons your enemies, and allows them to spread the infection to their counterparts.
  • More weapon upgrades - and they'll be more useful, rather than counter-effective, like the Lava Gun to Meteor Gun upgrade.
  • A new puzzle system.
  • New multiplayer modes, including online play.
  • Co-operative play is a possibility, but may not eventuate this time around.
  • Space combat will be reworked from the ground up.

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal will be available in the final quarter of 2004. We'll have more news on this game as it comes to light.

I'm definately gonna be checking this game out.
I recently recieved my "Welcome Pack" (which took it's ripe old time..)
and it had a demo of the original Ratchet, and I quite enjoyed it, so I'm going to buy myself the original game, and the sequel too. icon_smile.gif
