Square Enix's EU PlayOnline site has been a relativly dull affair, however, since the announcement of the release date for the new expansion pack Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia, the EU site has suddenly become alive, welcoming European adventurers to the online world of Vana'Diel.
The simultanious release of Chains of Promathia in both North America and Japan is also when European PS2 and PC players will finally be able to join with their American and Japanese counterparts for some spectacular adventures in Vana'Diel. This date has been announced as September 21st 2004. All servers are being brought down sequentially to update them with the new content.
