Square Enix announces Final Fantasy XI for Europe

PS2 News | Square Enix finally get their act together and begin the Final Fantasy XI service in Europe.
Square Enix's EU PlayOnline site has been a relativly dull affair, however, since the announcement of the release date for the new expansion pack Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia, the EU site has suddenly become alive, welcoming European adventurers to the online world of Vana'Diel.

The simultanious release of Chains of Promathia in both North America and Japan is also when European PS2 and PC players will finally be able to join with their American and Japanese counterparts for some spectacular adventures in Vana'Diel. This date has been announced as September 21st 2004. All servers are being brought down sequentially to update them with the new content.

Is it really worth it?
I have everything I need except the Network adapter and HD, but they are quite expensive and I dont know if I should throw more money at gameing.

If you have a PC, its certainly more worth it than the PS2 version, as you don't need all this extra stuff to play it. Even if you are a PC owner, it still takes 6GB HD space x.x

Edit: If you have a nice fast connection, you can watch the Live Vana'Diel Cam here

Thanks for the info though Quin.

If I was to ever get ADSL, I would definitely think about making an import for this game. I've watched people play (from other forums) and I must say it looks brilliant. I've even got a server to go to if I ever get the game, giving me more incentive. icon_smile.gif

The bugs were well and truly ironed out before the US release a year ago icon_wink.gif
