TGS 2005: New MGS3: Subsistence information

PS2 News | Multiplayer modes, screenshots and trailers all revealed.
Metal Gear has attracted phenomenal amounts of attention over the course of TGS - most notably MGS4 on the PS3. But that's not the only Solid Snake adventure causing a stir. MGS3 Subsistence - the bigger, better more version of MGS3 release earlier this year - has also received some serious attention.

The online multiplayer modes have had the wraps taken off, with a variety of stealth and killing options available. The first is the Sneaking Mission, where one player has an object, and it is up to other players to track them down and take the object. In the most violent way possible, of course.

Death Match and Team Death Match also feature, as you would expect. Death Match is your standard kill everyone fare, while Team Death Match adopts a Battlefield 2 style tickets system - each time you respawn, your team loses a ticket, until you reach zero.

A Capture Mission is also available to play, which is basically capture the flag. Finally we have rescue mission, where one player must protect an object from other players. The twist here is that there are no respawning points.

Phew. If that wasn't enough, we've included a stack of new images in the media panel. If you want to see the game in action, head over to the official website here and check out the new trailers.

I love how the trailer's first moments mimic the MGS4 trailer. Makes a great comparison between the two generations. It actually looks crap compared to the MGS4. Now would I have said that before seeing the MGS4 trailer? No way, I'm so spoilt...

And as for the end of the trailer...

that's... interesting...

I've already got a copy of the game. I won't be picking this up too. None of those added features appeal to me at all.

I might trade in my copy against the price of Subsistence in the end though. I'll have to think about it.

awesome!

i'll probably have to pick this up too. but i'll hang onto my normal copy, the saves between SoL and Substance weren't compatible, no reason to assume these will be either.

i don't know why, but if i click that link, it takes me to Microsoft.com. conspiracy much?

EDIT: ah, i see.
the link you have is:

remove the bolded bit and it works fine.
