Pro Evolution Soccer Management announced

PS2 News | Konami tries their hand at the management game.
After years of quality football gaming with Pro Evolution Soccer, Konami has announced today that they intend to release Pro Evolution Soccer Management, their first entry into the popular football management genre.

Produced by Akiyoshi Chosokabe, a member of Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka's Pro Evolution Soccer development team, Pro Evolution Soccer Management invites users to experience the dizzying highs and dreadful lows of managing a top-flight club. Players can manage any club from six European leagues, and are charged with balancing the day-to-day running of their chosen side, including player selection, training methods, and transfer dealings.

Using an allegedly simple but effective menu system, players will be able to oversee every aspect of their team's performance. In addition, a coaching staff must be chosen to assist in specific areas, while Pro Evolution Soccer 5's exhaustive player database can be scoured for new signings – before entering negotiations to secure their services. Data from Pro Evolution Soccer 5 can be used in Management for the creation of 'Dream Teams', which can then be swapped and used in both games.

"We are delighted to offer a companion title to the ever-popular Pro Evolution Soccer 5," commented Martin Schneider, European Marketing & PR Director of Konami of Europe. "Pro Evolution Soccer Management adds new depth to the series, and is an incredibly absorbing strategy title that will continually surprise the player with its level of detail."

It is currently unclear whether Pro Evolution Soccer Management is an entirely new game, or a localisation of Winning Eleven Tactics, which was released late last year in Japan, but given past experience, we'd say this is the case.

Look for Pro Evolution Soccer Management in 2006. We've also got a number of screenshots of the game in the media panel.

Intriguing stuff. Of course, Football Manager rules the roost of football management games, but given that the PES series periodically dominates my gaming life, this has piqued my curiosity. Odd that they blurred out Rooney's name here mind - looks like they've not got the official licence (yet).

There's a few things I'd like to say to Rio, mostly about actually doing something to earn his £110,000 weekly pay packet. icon_pout.gif

Dazed look... pink shirt....

I'd like to ask him what he's on. And if I can borrow some.

Just kidding. Pot is bad for you. Don't do it. icon_naughty.gif
