Super Monkey Ball returns

PS2 News | The monkeys are on the way back. Screenshots included.
SEGA's crazy franchise involving a genius combination of monkeys and giant plastic spheres is set to continue for GameCube, PlayStation 2 and PSP. However, things arenm't precisely what you might expect. Firstly, it's not an official sequel, and secondly it's not even developed by Amusement Vision, the developer that made the first two games. Instead, Super Monkey Ball Adventures, is something of a straight-up platformer and is created by Traveller's Tales, the same developer that made the hit LEGO Star Wars games.

Super Monkey Ball Adventure will reportedly sport five differently themed worlds and a host of different so-called "monkey balls" to collect. These include a wooden one that enables the chimps to roll happily across water. Even though there are few details about the platformer specifics at the moment, it is known that pretty much all the old mechanics have been thrown out the window. However, reports indicate that the title will include a collection of party games and puzzles inspired by the previous titles. The PSP version will feature exclusive gameplay options, including Wi-Fi based multiplayer and a trading card game.

We will bring you some more information when it becomes available. Until then, enjoy the first screenshots.

Monkey Ball = Good.

Changing Developers and Gameplay = Possibly Bad.

But its Monkey Ball, which = Good.
