Tomb Raider: Legend dated

PS2 News | Raiding some legendary tombs in April.

Ten years after the series first appeared, Tomb Raider will be back in 2006. The new game, called Legends, promises... Well, more Tomb Raider, really. "Everyone working on Legend is buzzing right now," claimed Larry Sparks, Eidos Spokesman. "We are all so excited that this totally new incarnation of Lara will capture gamers' hearts, just as her original game did, and challenge their minds like no Tomb Raider they've ever seen." Totally new, you say? Snigger.

In any event, the game is scheduled for a April 7th release on Xbox, PS2 and PC in the PAL world - four whole days before the North American release, interestingly enough. But, whether the game will actually be any sort of improvement on the rather diabolical Angel of Darkness, or introduce any significant innovations at all, remains to be seen. Oh, and Xbox 360 and PSP versions will follow shortly after, probably with a 20% price and graphics increase for the 360 incarnation, and decrease for the little portable.

i've never seen the appeal of the Tomb Raider games. sure, big breasts are nice, but the games themselves were mostly cack IMO.

i did used to enjoy making Lara dive off cliffs and headplanting into solid rock though.

Screw the cliff! Diving off the second story landing onto the main foyer at Lara's mansion was a hoot. So was pushing the butler into that little wardrobe thing and locking him in.

That's not why I'm looking forward to this though (if it was, I'd probably have to mature a bit). Something about seeing this game in action rekindled some very early gaming memories in me and I'm a sucker for tales of high adventure. Afaik, nobody has bothered to make any decent Indiana Jones games so this should fit the bill quite nicely. I hope. Please let it be good...

Big breast are just a perk. Perky... hmmm... Ok that's just sad.

Konami released an awesome platformer on the FDS in Japan called Almana no Kiseki (Miracle of Almana) which was obviously a Temple of Doom game. It's one of my favourite games of all time.

there have been several good Indiana Jones games in the last few years (Infernal Machine and Emperor's Tomb), at least they were good at the time of release.

even went so far as to have his hat occasionally fall off and him catching it.

neither were fantastic games, but were all certainly better than any of the TR games IMO.
