Cold Fear movie in the works

PS2 News | Ubisoft's survival-horror game hits the big screen.
According to Variety, Darkworks’ and Ubisoft’s survival-horror game Cold Fear will be trying to make a bigger splash on the big screen than it did on the smaller screen.

Despite the game's poor sales, Avatar Films and Sekretagent Productions are willing to bring the story of coastal guard officer Tom Hansen and his adventure on an adrift whaling ship infested with aliens to cinemas. Sekretagent have written stories for previous Ubisoft games, which apparently helped the company in snagging the rights to the Cold Fear license.

Being a particular favourite of ours, we're hoping the game's transition from the small screen to the big screen will fair a little better than past video game-to-movie adaptations, such as Doom. The producers are still currently looking at potential directors before pitching it to any movie studios.

Stop making game movies, please! They're all crap. Every one of them.

Is that the game where you're on the Ship (the RE ripoff)? I was anticipating this game quite a bit and then I saw it on store shelves and I hadn't seen any reviews of it yet. Regardless I took the risk and bought it....took it home and....man I seriously don't remember being so disapointed with a game ever before. I thought the graphics were horrible and so was the control. Anyways I played it for like 1-2 hours and took it back the next day. Cold Fear has been dead to me ever since.

The movie might be a little different though so i'll remain optimistic. I just hope they don't repeat Virus.

This is a little off topic....but hey beepos - have you seen darkman?! It's so funny right at the end that guy the chick grabs....it's the one and only King! Hail baby! I love the look he gives aswell....

Yep that's the one; it's quite similar to R4, rather than other RE games.

Strange, it seems as though PALGN and myself are the only ones who played this game and liked it.... icon_think.gif
I own the PS2 version, which IMHO looked excellent. However it had one major drawback: load times were really really bad.

As for the movie, two things are in it's favor;
1. It'll be a zombie movie, FFS!!
2. Uwe Ball isn't making it.

I have to say the Resident Evil one was pretty bad, alone in the Dark....that was probably the 2nd worst. Mario Bros is pretty crap but I watched it when it came out and I remember thinking it was ok (i was young and stupid). I thought Doom was ok. Tomb Raider was good for what it was cuz around the time the movies came out the games were actually worse. Final Fantasy looked good..

Resident Evil Apocolypse was the worst ever!! When Milla and Nemesis have that fist fight....man I nearly punched the tv....it was so stupid!! Also Jill in the movie.....what a f***ing loser! Minx this....minx that! Shut the f**k up!!
