Kingdom Hearts II receives PAL treatment

PS2 News | No more lazy conversions?
Square Enix has confirmed to Eurogamer that Kingdom Hearts II will be borderless and will run at about the same speed of the NTSC version. Typically when RPGs are released in PAL regions, borders run along the top and bottom of the screen, and the game also runs a little slower.

In more good news, it's also been confirmed that Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII will also be borderless - it seems Square Enix is keen on delivering the best experience possible to PAL gamers. Kingdom Hearts 2 is the latest collaboration between Disney and Square Enix and lets players take control of Disney characters in Disney environments. Currently the game is set for release in PAL territories on September 28, so we'll have a review around then.

Meh... How hard is it to release decent conversions in PAL regions - who has a PS2 connected to a TV that doesn't support 60 Hz? Even putting in a switch and running the game in 60 Hz and the movies in 50 Hz would be fine but it's taken so long for SquareEnix to do this. Most DC games did this and from the games I have on GC only Luigi's mansion runs in 50 Hz Haven't bought a PS2 game in Aus ever - Much easier to import from US - cheaper and released earlier. Still so disappointed from FFX's Pal release ugh. I guess it's good news for gamers in Europe...

It's about time.

No need to write a new review, just use mine! icon_smile.gif This is good news, in any case, it's taken long enough for KH2 to come out here, I completed it months ago..

I stopped caring about Square-Enix efforts after the shambolic FFX PAL conversion, which was the final nail in the coffin for me.

That's a shame, I don't see what was so bad about FFX, that's a great game! I haven't been disappointed yet with their work. icon_smile.gif

I loved FFX - but to make PAL gamer wait (I can't remember how long - a year from the US release?) for a crap conversion with... wow a bonus international sphere grid... Meh I'm glad I imported the asian version (All the PAL 'goodies' in 60Hz for alot cheaper...

I see. Well, I guess I wouldn't know, since the only version that I have played is the PAL one, and i thought it was excellent. Oh well. icon_smile.gif I'll take your word for it then.

Sounds like they've just developed a PAL convertor... a bit late in the life of PS2, but it's good never the less

Not long till I get my hands on this game now. Been waiting since the launch of Kingdom Hearts 1 for this, and FINALLY it's almost here.

I gave up at FF 8.

Although I like what they are doing with the latest variant FF XII so I may see what happens when its released PAL side.

BTW this has nothing to do with KH 2 except its MO (Modus Operandi) but someone mentioned giving up on FF style games. Than I can't help myself I like to have a dig a FF icon_razz.gif.

They did? That's news to me. That would suck if that were true, I like FF style games, quite a lot.
