Disney wants third Kingdom Hearts

Tetsuya Nomura, producer of the money-printing Kingdom Hearts titles, has revealed that Disney has already approached Square Enix in regards to the developer possibly producing a third Kingdom Hearts. The first two games both featured an array of Disney and Square characters, and both proved to be critical and commercial successes. Now, if Nomura is to be believed, it appears Disney isn't willing to see the franchise fade away just yet.

Chatting to Japanese publication Dengeki PlayStation, Nomura admitted that Squenix has "already been approached by the Disney side saying that they want us to make it," though also added that he and his team, which is hard at work on the forthcoming Final Fantasy Versus XIII, could just be too busy to meet Disney's request. "We have various ideas, but we're not at the point where we can say [we'll do it]," Nomura said. "It's physically impossible at the present," he added.

Fingers crossed Nomura and co. find space in their packed schedules - as Phil pointed out in his review, Kingdom Hearts II really is pretty special.

I pray. I pray very hard. I know that Nomura actually has the concept of KH3 planned out and clearly too (if you've seen the secret movie at the end of KH2 and read the interview, you'd understand), and the concept, although very vaguely revealed, sounds potentially awesome.

Squeenix is the new Pixar! Disney is a sitting (ahem) duck without its partners, if it was up to Disney we'd have seen a dozen sequels direct to the bargain bin by now!

I reckon they could churn out a few dozen games a year by splicing up one game into twelve and using enough FMV filler. Bugger buying the games, I'm buying Disney & Square Enix stock!

seems that disney are just trying to exploit the succes of the series. if its as good as 1 + 2, sure why not? but if its just there to grab some extra cash..... it would fail. and disney + square would get a REALLY bad rep.

Nah, cheapest i have seen a PS2 is $140.And it was the older version(fat) was boxed though.

Disney is dying IMO, and SE is doing quite well. So there's no hurry for SE to make another game. They've got other games to sell/make/milk
