Shadow Hearts: From The New World in May

PS2 News | Another RPG to watch out for.

After a long and tedious wait, PAL gamers will finally be able to experience the third instalment in the Shadow Hearts series, Shadow Hearts: From The New World, thanks to Ghostlight.

The game is set in North America during 1929 and follows the story of Johnny Garland, a sixteen-year-old detective who lost his father, sister and memory in an accident. As the game progresses, Johnny soon finds that his once ordinary life will quickly change into an epic adventure as he attempts to find out the truth about a mysterious window that monster emerge out of.

The Shadow Hearts series has been nothing but spectacular, with Shadow Hearts: Covenant receiving straight 9s from us back in 2005. From The New World looks set to follow that trend, with the game receiving plenty of praise from American gamers, and in all honestly we can’t wait until we get our hands on the title either.

Shadow Hearts: From the New World is scheduled for a May release on the PS2 in all PAL territories.

It's about time. I've been waiting ages to hear this. I had given up hope on ever seeing a PAL release.

Although I'm not really confident about the company who did the English translation: Xseed. They released Wild Arms 4 and edited it making it impossible to finish the game 100%.

Here's hoping they've done a better job.

Well I'll definitely have to pick this game up if it's anywhere near as good as the last one seems to be. I'll also have to pick number 2 up and what system is the first one on?

PS2 is what the entire series is on, I picked up the first one for $30 about 2 years back so they aren't exactly in large numbers. Then theres also the 'tie in' with Koudelka which is on the PS1.

Too late for me though, I already imported the 3rd.

Yay! Good to see 1, 2 & 3 available to PAL only PS2 players.

Now if I could just get a conclusion from Xenosaga 2...

Final Fantasy has a judgement ring? The Shadow Hearts series couldn't be any further from being like Final Fantasy - and that's what makes it so unique and a delight for JRPG fans.

I had to check the date to make sure this wasn't an April Fool's joke.

Being a huge fan of the Shadow Hearts series I went to a lot of trouble getting a PS2 and TV capable of playing the US version (DAMN PAL vs NTSC consoles and TVs! Damn you to hell!!!!) just so I could play this, so news of a PAL release makes me feel both happy and exasperated.

At the time this game came out I emailed X-Seed to ask if a PAL release would be forthcoming, and they pretty much said 'No.' I wondered if perhaps Ghostlight might pick it up if anyone did, but didn't hear anything from them for ages, so figured it wasn't happening. How happy am I that I was wrong. I will go shower Ghostlight with money.

It's about time I say! I've seen the final battle on a video, and if the rest of the game is anything to go by, then all us SH fans are in for a treat!
