Rockstar Games, undeniably Take-Two's most important label, always seems to have a handful jolly good treats for us come the fourth quarter of each fiscal year. 2004 should be no exception, with new Grand Theft Auto games headed for both home consoles and the Gameboy Advance, as well as a few new franchises we're positively aching to know more about.
First off in the new year will most likely be the GBA port of the first Max Payne game, a game that's been available in the states for a good few week already, and they seem to like it. Also check out this story for some more info and a handful of screens.
Additionally, we'll be introduced to two brand new franchises, Red Dead Revolver and The Warriors. There's little information about either game beyond a few sentences explaining the premises and type of games we're looking at, so we'll be sure to bring you any significant new info, footage or screens we receive in the near future. With Red Dead Revolver we're promised a stylish, western themed, gun-fighting extravaganza developed for the Xbox and PS2. The Warriors, on the other hand, is a license based on the Paramount Pictures feature film by the same name. There's currently no concrete information on it, but expect that to change pretty soon.
As previously mentioned, two new Grand Theft Auto titles will makes their way onto store shelves by the end of next year. A second Grand Theft Auto 3 expansion, similar to last year's Vice City, will most likely be released on both PS2 and Xbox platforms. As you may know, Rockstar's console exclusivity deal with Sony expired earlier this year, so there's a considerable chance the next Grand Theft Auto (presumably named San Andreas) will be released simultaneously on Xbox and PS2. A GTA title will also appear on the Gameboy Advance sometime during fiscal 2004, along with the Japanese release of Vice City, following up the success of GTA 3 in the same country.
Much to look forward to, in other words.
