New Australian PlayStation 3 bundle on the way

PS3 Rumour | Will include a bonus controller and first party titles?

In the UK Sony recently launched a new bundle which includes two brand new first party titles for the price of one, with the purchase of a PlayStation 3 40GB model. Because Australia is also a PAL region often the bundles we get are the same as our international brothers, but Australia didn't get a bundle which included bonus first party titles, but it seems an even better bundle may not be far away.

We took a photo at a Harvey Norman store today which was promoting a bundle for $788, including the 40GB console, as well as a choice of a first party title (Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, NBA Live 08 or Ratchet and Clank) with a bonus Sixaxis controller.

For another $199 the retailer would include copies of Skate, Timeshift, Assassin's Creed and a HDMI high definition cable. So, is a bundle in the works? We've asked Sony Australia for a comment and will report back as soon as they get back to us.

Why no Dual Shock 3? Why? Wouldn't it make sense? How long is it going to take for it to be available here?

Still its pretty good though. But Aus is getting jipped in PS3 prices compared to america anyway.

I got my 40gig, a HDMI cable, Die Hard 4.0 and Singstar for $500, come back to me when you get that cheap

I can confirm that deal is going at GAME also. $799 and it's one of those 4 games and an extra controller. We don't have the stock for the games though, so I'd assume we either get them soon to sell them with the console, or they're coming in a bundle.

I would rather the machine just be cheaper. Big W had a special back near Christmas. 40GB PS3 for $589. I was really tempted to grab one but im holding of until MGS4 comes around.

i saw a similar poster in EBgames today. It was more to the effect of 'for a extra $98 you can get Uncharted and a second controler. Or or one of these others games'.
How many of the games there offering with this deal have multiplayer? can't see the second controler being that useful if you just get the bundle

Guess they need to get rid of those six-axis controllers before they unleash the Dual Shock 3 for the Australian retail public. This might get some more people to buy the PS3 especially with some stores having less brand new 360 stock ala EB. I wonder how long this deal will go for.

I'm sure you'll find the article is incorrect, as it should be NBA 08, the Sony licensed game not NBA Live 2008

Judging from an add in JB's STACK mag, it's an official bundle on sale from Jan 28th to Apr 27th. Wasn't the last bundle available just before the 60GB disappeared ?

Yes it was, but don't think this is a sign that the 40gb is disappearing

I'll just put one out there, and say it will be replaced by 40Gb with a Dual Shock 3 (+ a coppy of GTAIV

) - bundle exp. Apr 27, GTAIV on Apr 29 ....

Thanks for advertising for me Luke. This new bundle is so much better than the last bundle we had. At the end of the day, there's alot of value in that bundle.

No official word on dual shock 3 yet, as far as I'm aware. Rumours are flying that we'll be getting the 80G PS3.

I doubt we will be getting the 80GB console in Australia as they have already discontinued the 80GB model overseas such as in the US and Japan. So I can't see them making special batches of 80GB consoles just for the PAL market.
