For some time now, we have wondered along with the rest of the SingStar lovers out there, why the back catalogue of songs hasn't entirely shown up yet, given that re-doing the tracks for the PS3 version of the game should, logically, be much easier than creating new tracks altogether. It turns out that it's a little more complicated than that, as Sony mentioned that any recycled tracks must actually be re-cleared before being placed for sale on the SingStore.
"We have had to re-process all of the tracks for PlayStation 3 and this in turn means we have to start a brand new clearance procedure. We are, however, ready to release them to the store as soon as each track has been cleared for use. As soon as each track is approved we'll have them in the Store as quickly as we can." says the developer on semi-official blog ThreeSpeech.
They also mentioned that getting songs from movies is difficult because licensing the videos includes 'added complexity' due to the fact that the clips feature actors, but they hope that this will become an easier process in the future. The next SingStore update is scheduled for this Friday evening; we'll let you know which tracks will be available for download as soon as we find out.
