Burnout Paradise to be transformed completely

PS3 News | As Criterion Games celebrates 1 million sales.
Criterion Games has revealed on their official website that the upcoming downloadable content for Burnout Paradise will completely "TRANSFORM Paradise (Island)".

Criterion Games hasn't exactly elaborated on what we can expect from the downloadable content, but it seems like the developer is fully committed to delivering top notch downloadable content. It's certainly been a day of big news for Criterion Games, who also revealed that one million copies of Burnout Paradise have been snapped up by gamers worldwide. That means more than 15 million Burnout titles have been sold worldwide.

^ Yeah i am exactly the same. As good as this game is; and i admit it is one really polished, fun racing experience; I just got bored of it real quick. My attention span and tolerance with games is just not what it used to be. Games are just so good now that to really get caught up in something it has to be really special. ala GTA 4 (fngers crossed)

On the official Criterion Games forums, creative director Alex Ward has stated that new cars are in the works. These cars will be available as paid downloadable content. He has also stated that the first of what is to be several islands to be added will be made available as part of an update. Bridges extending from the main section of Paradise City will connect to these islands, offering "a new type of gameplay".[19][20][21] Forum posts from Ward also alluded to the possibility of underground sections and further online content (including adding sirens to the police vehicles, and horns to the others, which would be used online in some form). Altogether, this expansion project has been collectively referred to as "Freeburn 2.0".[22]

i took that from wikipedia. so im not sure if thats the transformation or not but yeh

by the end of this transformation burnout paradise will acutally be a first person shooter

Extending the islands seems logical, I mean if you look around the city yo9u will notice there are already a few bridges that you can't drive on yet that lead off the map so that means they where obviously planning of extending it at some point.

As for the game it's self, I've practically clocked every burnout expect this one, they have mad it just far to hard and th free roaming in a way completely kills it's charm, having to navigate at top speed and do everything else so that you have to come first or lose is simply too much. I haven't finished Paradise and I doubt I ever will, good game but it definetly doesn't live up the previous titles.

It should be cool to see what the Burnout team have up there sleeves, sounds like they really play to support this game to keep it fresh, which it seem quite a few of use think it needs.

I was really high on the game when it first came out, put in over 20 hours in 5 days and earned my burnout license/end credits. Then I went on holidays for six weeks and once i got back I've tried to play it a few times but i just can't be stuffed driving from one event to another and dealing with all the other baggage that comes with the open world. That said if they added some new areas to explore I'd probably give it another, especially if there free as I've heard they may be

I'm really looking forward to the update/s. Obviously because they (Criterion) seem intent on delivering something pretty damn awesome but also because they're free. Well the supposed upcoming islands anyway.

Not all that interested in the extra cars (if there are any) because I only really drove a few from the original roster to begin with.

But yeah, if this content means that Nismo returns to Paradise City then I am all for it. Haven't really touched it since finishing everything so yeah, it would be awesome to go back. Love the game. icon_biggrin.gif

I think I've mentioned this about the game but really more cars aren't overlay needed. The game offers little incentive to change cars in the first place. Although the idea of cops and more islands will hopefully make the game a lot more interesting.

“Restart event” and “clearly outlined path to goal”. Forget your stupid extensions and focus on making the game playable.

The game is top shelf. You need to invest time and let your previous Burnout experience not cloud your ideas about this game. It's almost like a adventure game as I like the exploring element. The online section is completely brillant as well, people seem to skip over the achievement that this game as done.

Hopefully the downloaded content will be awesome!

Cops? In Burnout? Won't happen. There's two cars in the game that have police liveries, but that's it. There won't be cops pursuing you or whatever.

While they're at it, maybe you'd like them to release a patch for your inability to play the game?

My judgment is just fine, thanks. Not a cloud in sight.

I bought Paradise because I love the games that came before it, true. But I’m not the close-minded drone you make me out to be. An open world Burnout has potential but, unfortunately, Paradise carries some very annoying oversights. Again, like I said, a restart feature is an absolute must, along with a clearly outlined path to the finish line. It’s sad that I actually need to expand on this. Without these 2 vital features, Burnout isn’t Burnout anymore. Yes, it makes that much of a difference!

I’m all for innovation – definitely, but I think you’ll find I’m not the only Burnout fan upset with the absence of these 2 crucial (but easy to implement) features. I really wanted to like the game - $80 plus 15 hours attests to this – but I just found the overall experience very tedious and frustrating. But hey, maybe you’ve been looking for an MMO/Racer for a long time now? If so, then I see where you’re coming from.

Oh, you. Is that sarcasm I smell? Very witty, indeed! icon_lol.gif

Nah, like I said, I’d be happy with those 2 must-have features I mentioned earlier on. An option for 2 players would be nice, along with a return of the far superior Crash mode, but hey – I’d settle for my initial request. Hope the English language isn’t a barrier next time in your quest to understand what others are saying.

Not sure if this has been posted but HERE is a list of changes being made to the 1.2 patch coming April 24th. I dont think this will include the DLC though.
