Afrika not coming to Europe

PS3 News | Looks like us Aussies miss out too.
Sony Europe has told Eurogamer that it won't be publishing Afrika in Europe, but has also confirmed that the game will be released in Japan.

Afrika first made its debut in 2006, but news on the game has been rather elusive, with interest in the title reigniting just recently, when Sony Japan launched a teaser website for the game. The fact that Afrika isn't being released in Europe probably makes it unlikely that Australians will see the game, however, with the game appearing on our release list we'll check with Sony Australia and report back.

I expected some sort of united nations related pun or something similar when clicking the article name. I came out disappointed.

thats what she said

But seriously, after seeing sony "showcase" this game so many E3s ago and it then vanishing, only to be thrown in every now and again with little or no information provided, I am past caring about not getting it icon_sad.gif

But PS3 games are region free right? So no big deal then.

I know this game has been getting a lot of flak since it's unveiling but I always thought the concept was pretty neat. That is, if the concept of the game does in fact involve traversing the African Savannah to take pictures of the wildlife in their natural habitat. Sounds adventurous and I like adventurous.

Just give us the digital download.

Well if it turns out good we can always import.

Good thing the PS3 is region free.

Man I love how they don't even give a reason just "Nup, you're not getting it"

well, if sony were planning on charging $100+ for this in australia im guessing most of us would've imported it anyway

no biggie

I'm guessing they have added that this game won't make up for production costs. Hopefully this could either be downloaded as a psn title or give everyone the ability to import through the psn store as an option or purchase from play-asia etc.

i still have no idea what this game is icon_annoyed.gif

I think it's like a free roaming Pokemon Snap style of game. If they took the photography aspect of Pokemon Snap, gave you and some online friends a jeep and an open Africa to explore, it would be pretty interesting. Like, the game tells you "there might be some Gazelle 20 kilometres away behind this river", and you drive there, only to have the Gazelle run off, so someone has to drive and everyone else is standing in the back trying to get the best photos.

I dunno, it could be a good break from shooter after shooter after shooter.

^ Sounds interesting to me.

Anyway, as long as the game gets a U.S release, we're all good. I definitely want to find out more about the game though, we haven't been given any info at all really. You're probably right though, mipac.

That actually sounds pretty cool.

So it'll be a 'next-gen' Deer Hunter, set in Africa, with cameras instead of firearms?

Let's hope there's more to it than that, eh? icon_shifty.gif

Deer + vehicle + Speed = Bloody tyre tracks. Could possibly be the biggest hidden hit of the year, especially at parties when people have had just enough to drink:

'I bet you can't run over that Elephant!'

'Oh yeah?' *drives into elephant and flips jeep and a pride of lions appear*

'Jesus Christ it's a Lion! Get in the car!' *players are eaten*

GAME OVER. >.>

I have suddenly gained an immense interest in this game. Sure you're not a deep-cover operative working PR for Sony, Nik? icon_razz.gif
