Final Fantasy Versus XIII put on hold

PS3 News | Final Fantasy XIII to become developer's priority.

According to reports out of Japan's Famitsu magazine, (you can find the English translation here courtesy of NeoGAF), the development team working on Square Enix's action-RPG side project Final Fantasy Versus XIII have been told to halt work on the game in order to speed along development of the already delayed main series title Final Fantasy XIII.

Going by a the translation provided by a NeoGAF forum member, Versus XIII will remain on the back burner until production on Final Fantasy XIII has completed.

That's cool, I wasn't expecting Versus until a year or so after XIII anyway. They both look amazing.

I came into this thread knowing there was a 0.0000001% chance that it was being delayed for the intiation for production of FF7 PS3 remake. ^.^

on topic i always thought XIII would have been the priority from the start??

I see this as like downloading a tv series off bit-torrent, in that I download one ep at a time. It'll take me longer to get the whole series but at least I can watch it while I'm waiting for it to finish downloading.

And have since commented that a PS3 remake is very possible, they just need to get the main team members back together. They would be crazy not to do it, as ever since that trailer was released, fans have been drooling for Final Fantasy VII on PS3.

says the video is no longer available...if its just the tech demo then i have seen that before...seems like a bit a tease to me...they must have been thinking of doing it ever since

GOOD. Final Fantasy 13 should be their number 1 priority, I wouldnt care less if they postponed all their games as long as we get this one ASAP. Next huge game for me after MGS4.

Given that they've remade up to 5 or 6 already I think they might already be planning the remake of VII

lol this news is incorrect (phew!)
just read below:

Eurogamer earlier got in touch with Square-Enix to confirm what had been said by Nomura in the Famitsu scans about Final Fantasy Versus XIII's development being on hold. According to Square-Enix, the reports are false and Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still being developed.

It turns out that what Nomura meant to say is that sometimes when the Versus team has some free time, they help out the Final Fantasy XIII team with development. In other words, these team members haven't been moved, just help out when they have nothing to do.

so luckily ffvxiii is still on track yay!!!!!!!
