New content launches for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

PS3 News | Previously announced single player level arrives.
Gaming website Gameinfowire.com has revealed LucasArts today released more new content for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. This time around it’s more then just extra costumes however, with the package featuring a new single player level, available now on Xbox 360 for 800 Microsoft Points and PS3 for US$10.

Downloadable through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, the level features an entirely new mission set in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant. Exploring as The Secret Apprentice again, the player travels to the Jedi Temple to learn more about his father, and while searching through the rubble of the destroyed building he must confront his inner demons.

Also bundled with the package are nine new costumes including:

• Apprentice’s Temple Exploration Gear
• Apprentice - Cybernetic Reconstruction
• Apprentice’s Sith Training Gear
• Mace Windu
• Darth Maul
• Qui-Gon Jinn
• Dark Stalker
• Lightsaber Training Droid
• Combat Training Droid

It's currently $59.95 at Game so I reckon that's fairly cheap considering it's pretty recent.

Bought it a couple of night ago, the level is quite fun, takes about 20-30 minutes maybe. For some bizarre reason the difficulty achievements don't stack, so you have to finish it through on each difficulty if you want each achievement. So you'll get a whole lot more out of it if you're an achievement whore!

As for the costumes, I looooooooove the cybernetic costume, it's insanely cool. The training droids are boring but the rest are pretty nifty.

Oh, and if anyone else suffered from the 'default text' bug, it appears to have been fixed in a patch, hooray...

I wish you would be fixed in a patch MrWaffle.

I might have to check this out tonight. More levels is good.

How does this work into the storyline with the ending of the game?

They had the Temple in the PSP version as well (probably in the PS2 and Wii), Vader would send you there to train inbetween hunting the jedi early on in the game, of course you had to cut your way past the stormtroopers guarding the place.

I'd much rather they had made a DLC of the Bespin level where you have to rescue Garm Bel Iblis from a heap of bounty hunters and a heap of Boba Fett like Mandalorians with the whole jetpack, flamethrowers and missile attacks and a boss fight against a Basilisk War Droid (1st time it's been done properly in a game too).

So is the temple level worth getting on 360?

You have to start a new game to access it. You select new game and then can choose between the campaign and the new level; it doesn't fit into the campaign.

Story-wise, it fits near the end of the game, giving a bit of back story to how the Apprentice decides on the choice you make at the end of the game.

It's only really worth it if you want to play a lot of TFU, and have played the campaign over and over because of how fun it is. It's well designed and fun, but if you're not interested in playing it more than once you might as well not get it.
