Prototype receives MA15+ classification

PS3 News | Get ready to cause mayhem.
Activision-Blizzard has announced today that Prototype has been rated MA15+ by the Australian Classification Review Board.

Given some of the previewed gameplay features, there were concerns that Prototype could have some difficulty with the Board, although there is no word yet on what changes, if any, were ultimately made. For example, the promoted 'Deceive or Destroy' gameplay allows players to either blend in with the city's population and covertly move through the story, or players can choose to "fully unleash Alex’s powers, moving through New York City as a walking slaughterhouse – shape-shifting in plain sight, consuming civilians on the street, commandeering military vehicles, including Apache helicopters and Abrams tanks and causing destruction at every turn."

There's still no confirmation on a release date however, so stay tuned.

YESSS! Thank God this game passed classification. This is looking so good.

Let's just hope if there were changes they weren't significant and, more importantly, that this game turns out as good as the previews are making it appear.

I was worried about this. I thought for sure it was doomed when I saw that you could surf an innocent bystander around, leaving a trail of viscera on the street behind you as you grind his face into the pavement.

Me too - but mainly because it looked like you could fly rather than being a shapeshifter. While this is sci-fi, I still like some amount of physical laws to apply.

Still, should be fun. Could easily go wrong, but I think it will end up mixing the freedom of Spiderman, twisted multi-layer plot of Assassin's Creed, graphics+scenery of GTA4, and hopefully remember that fun comes before everything.

Looked more like gliding to me, like a sugar glider or something.

I'd be really worried about this if it wasn't teh same team that made probbably the greatest free roaming game of the last generation (Hulk)

Mmm, Ultimate Destruction was that game I bought out of impulse and came out incredibly surprised.

The fun I had with that game was beyond insane.

The company producing the game said months ago that they had already been developing a special censored version for Australia specifically.

Can almost guarantee they never even tried submitting an uncut version.

I will import on PS3. Because that way I can rest assured.

^ serious?

i was wondering if this might be the case. ah well, if it ends up we are getting a gimped version, i'll probably just import from the UK (or get it on PS3 instead.)

Ditto. I can't even remember why I decided to pick it up but it turned out to be the most enjoyable game I own on the Xbox. Biggest sleeper hit in my collection for sure.

Sucks to hear about the censorship. Importing does seem like the way to go. Again.

Censoring the game for some generic gore was a stupid decision. Judging by the videos I've seen, the games gore wasn't anything we've haven't seen before. Many games such as Ninja Gaiden II and Dead Space contain far more blood/gore. There was absolutely no excuse to not submit a censored version for classification. Games with FAR more gore are currently on shelves in Oz.

I will be importing the game on PS3, I'm getting very sick of this sort of rubbish.
