Arkham Asylum collector's edition detailed

PS3 News | Batman brings his swag Down Under.
While the contents of the Batman: Arkham Asylum collector's edition were promptly revealed to the gaming public last week, PALGN has kept quiet on the issue until now as the collector's edition was originally destined to appear in North America only. Today's press release from the Australian arm of Atari has indicated that all you lovers of collectible swag will be in for a treat, as it looks like a safe bet that the collector's edition of Arkham Asylum will be making its way to Australian shores.

As well as a copy of the game itself, this collectible edition of the title will come complete with a host of items, including:

  • 14" Batarang with stand
  • Arkham Doctor’s Journal - with 48 pages of notes on Arkham’s inmates
  • Behind-the-scenes DVD
  • Code for downloadable Challenge Map - players will be able to immediately download and play on the 'Crime Alley' challenge map which is exclusive to this edition of the game.
Currently there is no price attached to this collectible package, though with the premium swag on offer it's safe to say that the title will attach a similarly premium price tag. This collector's edition will be available for sale on all of the game's intended platforms - PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Yep, exclusive... icon_wink.gif until 24 hours later when they'll no doubt release it as overpriced DLC to the rest of the public. I just made myself sad icon_cry.gif

Looks alright, but no doubt they'll try and charge $200 for it which makes it useless, overpriced junk..

Depends on what the batarang is made of, I guess. If what I'm guessing is right, that alone makes it at least $200. Anything less than that would be a good price, for me at least icon_razz.gif

14" Batarang. That's all I really want.

I'll be getting this, the 14" batarang even though it'll most likely be made out of plastic makes this a proper collectors edition.

It's listed on Amazon for $95US, which means it would be at least $140AUS.
The US version is slightly different too as you can see hear on TeamXbox's site:

The box it all comes in is much cooler and they get an embossed leather dust jacket around the art book.

Freakin' Batarang!!!!!! Sign me up. That'd look sweet on my tool belt at work, and I don't even wear a tool belt. Man I've got some stuff to do.

If they can keep it sub-$150ish I'll be all over it. They can't go and make the thing super heavy; Batman's not going to carry around a sheaf of five kilogram Batarangs when he fights crime. I'd actually prefer a nice high quality plastic, because there's no way I'm not going to be throwing that thing around and I don't really want to kill anything with it.

i've been going to EB every night since the CE was confirmed for Australia, and they didn't have it in the system yet, but i was called just now by the girl there, and it's come onto their system today.

are you sitting down?

RRP is $179.95.

i've got it ordered now. it'll be ~$153 if you use an EBgames.com.au voucher - and to me, if the Batarang is quality, i'm willing to pay $50 for it (i've paid more for collectable props) - of course i'm able to change my mind on seeing the Batarang, if it looks shoddy, then i'll just swap back to the standard edition.

yep - preordered mine today as well -
will be using the EB voucher as well as trade my 20 gb hard drive in ...

Price must've updated sometime this morning on the EB systems them as when I pre-ordered this morning at about 9:20am Sydney time they still had the $199 price point in the system.
