PlayStation Store Update - 03/07/09

PS3 News | Something fishy's going on.
Well, after weeks of waiting, a much anticipated PSOne Classic has finally arrived on the PlayStation Store. That's right, our consoles have finally been graced with James Pond 2: Codename Robocod. Metal Gear Solid? Who needs that when we've got a stretchy fish. Also up this week are a couple of new games, and an obscene amount of game packs for Tiger Woods PGA 10. Seriously, we don't know if anyone out there has that game yet, but does it need 51 paid game packs already? In any case, let's get on with it.

PS3 Games
  • Numblast - AUD $8.45
A Japanese-style puzzle game. Aoyama and Akasaka are two students in a Japanese university when one day, during an experiment on mysterious cubic artefacts, Akasaka is turned into a monkey. It's up to Aoyama to solve the puzzle of the strange stones, with explosions no less, caused by creating combos of identical numbers aligned in 2x2 squares.
  • The Punisher: No Mercy - AUD $12.95
Survive in the world of The Punisher with eight unique characters, using cover and powerups in both solo and co-op modes. Includes art by Mike Deodato.

  • Numblast - AUD $8.45
See the above description. It's the same, but now it comes with PSP freshness.

I'd be interested to know whether the Tiger stuff can still be earnt by playing the game, or if you now have to purchase it.

I'm really struggling to find a reason not to ditch the PAL PS Store in favour of the US PS Store.

You have to import PSN US $s.

It's a total joke though. Wii and 360 seem to have no problems getting content onto the PAL store at the same time as the rest of the world. I'm not sure what Sony's problem is.

US PS Store
I have done this just for Rockband... Got it before AUS release. It's kind of a pain but worth it. 2 logins. Fake US Address. Entropay Credit Card (5% transaction). US exchange at times.

On the plus side. So much Rockband material.

Anyone getting The Punisher?

Grey - besides the fact you probably shouldn't be doing that cause it's illegal, I also thought Rockband content was the same in Australia as it is in the US, other than the Rock Band 2 disk which we don't have here yet.

Stoked about more Motorstorm Pacific Rift content, I guess the Adrenaline pack will be coming in the next couple of weeks?

Anyways what's with the hate this week? Over the previous two weeks things have been a lot worse than this. 2 new full games, plenty of add-on content, a demo and some new trailers. That's not too bad. I do agree that we are lagging badly when it comes to PS1 content though but it doesn't affect me as I still had my original MGS and FFVII copies.

Not when the game was out months and months before it even got close to release here icon_wink.gif

I've got all my Rockband content from the US store (via in-game menu, natch) using Entropay. Works a charm. Don't think I can buy through the Aus one - although if someone wants to correct me on that then please do, as it'd be easier!

Where's the Ghostbusters demo????

All that Tiger Woods stuff is ridiculous. Why wasn't it all included on the disc? It seems like a lot of content.

I did and enjoy it.The story mode is the same as the campaign in UT3 which may put most people off the story mode. But this game at least cutscenes in the form of comic strips with voice overs.

Now I know the Punisher is an adult oriented comic but I still didn't expect the use of the F word.

The game basically plays like UT3 as well.

There's 8 characters I believe, 7 which are unlocked by playing story mode. There's also powers to unlock thrugh story and I think online.

As long as you don't expect it to be a great FPS, you shouldn't really have to many problems with.

Obviously if it was a disc game it would be a waste of money but for $13, I say give it a try.

Haven't played online but with rather great graphics for a PSN game and imo a fun gameplay experience, personally I recommend it.

Oh and there's a demo on the US store you can try to see if you think the game would be worth it.

FFS. Bought and downloaded the 572Mb Speed Pack this morning only to find there is also a 608Mb title update when I launch Motorstorm PR icon_sad.gif

I knew there would be a title update, but 608Mb is a bit crazy.

^I know what you mean, the size of some of these patches is ridiculous. But what makes it worse is that just 2 weeks ago there was a 400MB+ patch for the game. I looked at my Game Data folder after installing the 608MB patch, only to see that the MS:PR data only took up 610MB... I'd like to know what the point of the 400MB patch was when the latest one wrote over all the code.

From what people have siad in the past the patches on PS3 seem to include EVERYTHING in them, so when an update is added it has all the stuff from the previous patches as well, regardless of whether you've already got it or not.
