Uncharted 2 DLC to arrive by year's end

PS3 News | More Drake on the way.
If you've already powered your way through Uncharted 2, fear not gamers as Naughty Dog has announced that the title will be receiving downloadable content before the end of the year.

In a telephone interview with IndustryGamers, Naughty Dog Creative Director Amy Hennig commented:

“We're working on that now, and what we're prepared to say is that there will be DLC available before the end of the year. Without going into specifics, it'll involve new maps, new characters, things like that. Some of it will be free of charge and some of it will be purchasable. We've got a lot of people on the team working on this stuff, some really cool stuff that people will be excited about. So we're definitely taking it very seriously.”

Keep your eyes peeled to PALGN for more Uncharted 2 DLC information in the coming months.

At least they sound like they are 'working' on the DLC, rather than finishing the content before launch then making us pay for some features that should have already been available.

Just point me to where I can give you my money, Naughty Dog.

dloiscute - what difference does it make whether they finish it b4 or after the game has come out... im betting they've done most of the leg work on at least the first 3 to 4 months of DLC content already. most of the naughty dog team have taken a month's holiday now that the game has released.

alot of companies are going to hold out on content to make people pay for it... if a company finishes 20 maps... then from their perspective why release everything on the disk when they can just charge for it knowing most people will pay for it. it sucks for us... but they want our money.

I'm over DLC to the point that I am almost unwilling to buy any title at launch anymore (that and most game seemed rushed to be patched at a later date - if at all). Better to wait 12 months for the budget price drop or a GOTY edition and get all the content we should have at launch for the same price. Either that or grab it as an offical expansion pack and save the download quotas.

I'm also over store specific pre-order bonuses. Do I have to buy 5 copies of a game now to get all content as a fan. BAH - end rant.

There is nothing wrong with developers to work on the content before release (which is almost a certainty)... BUT when games feel 'stripped' on release then content comes out almost straight away THAT is what bothers me *cough* verses mode RE5 *cough*. Uncharted 2, the godly game it is, doesn't feel like it's lacking at all and the delay of the content shows it has more thought put into it and has some form of customer feedback put into it.

Did anyone else catch the EyePet DLC on the store this week? Now, I dont know what the story is there, so it might be warranted, but releasing DLC before the game comes out, isn't that just milking the consumer for more money..

Again, Im not sure whats happening, but it did strike me as strange..

And the DLC is only 108kb or something, obviously already on the disc.

I totally agree on being annoyed with 'stripped' games but that is going to be the case now with every game... look at how lumines on xbox live stripped the game bear... its terrible but developers and publishers are going to milk it for all its worth.

I've gotta say that the multiplayer (while fun for a bit) is not really engaging enough to warrant the purchase of DLC. I'd love some more story driven stuff - suppose I'll have to wait for the next one.

I'm with dloiscute on this - Uncharted 2 definitely does not feel like content was held back so that they can get more money for it later. It already feels like it's packed with more stuff than most games.

Also, the designers didn't have to wait until the game was out in stores before starting to work on more stuff. The character modeling would have finished months ago, so why not use those character artists to create new stuff while the game is sent off for final approval and distribution?

@Arbok

If Naughty Dog wants my money, then they deserve it. I'd rather pay $5 for something that Naughty Dog has created than spending it on a versus mode for RE5 or a stupid costume for SF4. With the quality that came out of Uncharted 2, you know the DLC won't disappoint, I saw nothing but blood, sweat and tears poured into this game. Uncharted 2 was such an epic masterpiece, what the hell is with the negative energy?
