This is earlier than I expected, I assume this is the Australian date as well.

Annoyingly that's 5 days after uni goes back next year.. might have to take a gap year.

@Shadow Wave: loooool the EXACT same thing I thought... and it's gonna be my final year too so it's sorta important :S Fail :(

but I'll happy to finally get it icon_biggrin.gif Makes my need to save up for a current generation console sorta painfully desperate though :S especially seeing as I want a PS3...

Hey at least it doesn't come out near exam period. First few weeks of uni aren't that important, right? Right?!
God damn, my marks will suffer once again for video games...

Yep, stupid uni. I'm going to need at least a week or two off uni for this.

Here's hoping the street date is broken somewhere waaaay early!

You'll get there. I was a Uni student at the time and I managed to get a PS3 back when it launched, so I'm sure you'll manage somehow. icon_smile.gif

I think this is the first final fantasy game where i honestly couldn't really care about.
Sure i guess it has nice graphics/cutscenes, but what does it all come down too?
The same 'ol same 'ol.

These people need to reinvent the series instead of building upon a system that has been stale for quite a while, sure it has extra 'faff' but it seriously needs an overhaul, lets get some realtime happening on this ****.

This is a good date- it gives me a full month to finish all stroy threads of Mass Effect 2....

now the question is who is going to have the best collector's edition ...??
I'm hoping there's a collector's edition that includes the soundtrack. I know it would be absurdly expensive, but this is the kind of game I'd be willing to fork out the money for.

I'm so glad for this system of negging people with no response, kudos.
I guess you are one of these people ramblerun that are in the vein of 'if it aint broke, don't fix it' genre, but honsestly I am from the older generation and am sick of these glossed over braindead rehashes with no true innovation to a series that deserves alot more to its followers.
Button combo+flashy moves does not = innovation.
In this world where where we have so much technological innovation it just kind of saddens me they take the cheap and easy way out, just focusing on flash.
Don't get me wrong I have loved the final fantasy series but since they have moved to to the PS2 the storyline has gone downhill almost in a way that they have had to accomodate the graphics to the storyline.
Lets have a full advanced cel shaded adventure in a world totally different to the same steampunk tech **** i have seen through 3 series already for some real innovation.

Yeah lets hope they release a really great soundtrack which is just remixes of the Leona Lewis song they've used to replace the original theme song.

That'd be wonderful.

Give me FF8 any day... I used to love this series *sigh*

Ah well, BioShock 2 on February 9.

While I agree that the series has produced some absolute stinkers, I don't really want to add it to my "not play" list because of a real time focus. Real time doesn't make something innovative, but is more a play style.

I was getting to it, but why do people need to add a response when they neg someone but not when they plus them?

Basically it annoys me when people complain about games having repetition or doing the same thing over and over again. I am yet to see any game or any genre really change the way that they do things, because well, then it wouldn't be in the same genre and the game wouldn't be what fans of the game want to play. Is kind of like asking a shooter to having racing in it (or "Asking 'insert game here' to be more like 'insert game here'. I am all for innovation if it doesn't completely override the old, and I do enjoy some of the more recent systems which tried something different (Valkyria Chronicles comes to mind). Also until you can come up with a way to try and innovate the rpg battle system, or the systems in place in any game genre then I don't know what you are complaining about.

And yes I do agree with the "if it aint broke dont fix it". I would much rather developers create a new thing entirely instead of trying to add something to another thing. Why not have both in existence at the same time?

I'll be grabbing this. It's the only title since FF8 that has made me want to get it. Now here's hoping there's a CE and that it's not a $200AU.
