Gran Turismo 5 goes NASCAR

PS3 News | New trailer tells the tale.
After last year's announcement which detailed developer Polyphony Digital's acquisition of the NASCAR license for Gran Turismo 5, Sony has finally released a trailer which details just what gamers can expect from the American stock car sensation in-game.

Gran Turismo 5 is currently pencilled in for a Q3 release this year, exclusively on the PlayStation 3 platform.

Hard to tell the difference between in-game footage and real life. Probably the only difference is that the game is too clean. Maybe they could add film grain or something.

Gonna be worth the (very long) wait.

Are they going to get to a point where they stop adding things like driving around an oval road and try and get the thing released?

Not exactly exciting, I've never been much of a fan of NASCAR, it's interesting to watch but actually partaking in it is REALLY draining (at least in game form, probably a lot more exhilerating to actually do it).

I think we will see GT5 for xmas not before. It's been taking so long I kinda just don't care anymore.

awesome, but youd want the license to go to some1 that can do damage, crashes are all apart of NASCAR icon_sad.gif

I don't think it's doing NASCAR justice, shoehorning it into another game. NASCAR deserves a seperate game, in GT5 it'll be just a few car models out of hundreds. But hey, it might mean we get to see a NASCAR turn right! OMG!

And in regards to the video... Holy ****. Stunning. I think it's great that Polyphony have delayed it to get it looking exactly right, no compromises. It means the game really will be top quality when it is eventually released.

I didn't have audio on during the clip but GT5 does have damage.

There were vids a while ago that showed stuff like dints and even the hood coming off if I remember correctly.

Just having damage is not enough, damage modelling on the cars thought out the entire game is what's needed.

and isnt that what they are going to have?

Apparantly the damage physics are going to be second to none, much like everything else they're spouting about this game.

Some cars here and there have damage and the clip they showed that did have damage was completely laughable compared to the damage shown in other games.

As for the NASCAR inclusion, didn't they announce this sometime around September last year?

With the addition of the NASCAR license I hope this doesn't mean an end to the seperate NASCAR titles by EA because at least they get released unlike Gran Turismo Forever.

Am I the only one here who wasn't impressed with that time trial demo they released last year?
After playing quite a bit of forza 3, I don't think that this is going to be worth the wait. The trailer does look amazing though. hmmm
