E3 2005: Three Metal Gear Solid titles unveiled

PS3 News | Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and Metal Gear Acid 2 in development.
Konami have announced that they currently have three Metal Gear Solid titles in development for three different platforms, the PS2, PS3 and PSP.

First up is Metal Gear Solid 4, which Hideo Kojima has described as being "less focused on stealth, and more on camouflage" Metal Gear Solid 4 will be set in a future world after the events of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, the game will see the return of all the major characters from the series, including Solid Snake, Meryl, Otacon and Revolver Ocelot. Metal Gear Solid 4 will also feature an online battle mode, however we have no other information on this.

Metal Gear Acid 2 is in development for the PSP and is a sequel to Metal Gear Acid, The footage shown of the game made the game look much more stylish, a little similar to cel-shading.

Finally Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence will be released on the Playstation 2 and will feature all new content and new features. The biggest addition to this new game is an online mode, where multiple players hunt down one opponent.

In "Metal Gear Solid 4:Boredom", snake is caught in a virtual reality time ripple, where raidon throws cards at him. After a 78 hour cutscene, the exact same characters from the last 3 game talk for 35 hours on the codec about how nuclear war is bad, and how we should all choose our own destiny, or the planet will colapse because gaia will creat a new metal gear from mako. Raidon then grabs Ocelot's solid snake and eats it.

In "Metal Gear Acid 2: What already?", you play as "Great Frog" the greatest card warrior the world has ever seen.

Metal Gear Solid 4 looks particularly special out of that lot. Good to see a continuation of the saga, and of course, online multiplayer would be the bomb. icon_biggrin.gif

bet you could have if you really tried... afterall, i've managed to hold my tongue about what i really think of Resident Evil...

wasn't really fussed about RE4 either... all show, no go...

All right, fair eneough. I'd have thought the graphics of RE4 were good eneough to make it entertaining on their own...the game is impressive, even if it's not your thing.

ANYWAY, I'm a bit peeved to hear about Substinance...
Might sell the normal version and get that one I guess.

^ yeah thats what i meant by "All show"

it was certainly pretty enough, something just needed to happen...

i could have also said something similar when the new Streetfighter was announced, but didn't...

but as i've said in defence of things i've liked, it's merely my opinion... just remember that not everyone agrees...

More happens in that game then any game I've played in years! But I'll leave it there.

I actually like MGS, by the way. I've played them since 1988 - I have a mint boxed copy of MG on NES. I just hated MGS2, and 3 has the misfortune of looking outdated because it's on PS2.

What's up with the PSP game though? I suppose you could consider it like MGS pinball or something.

And now they're diluting it even further with 2 more sequels?

I'll leave that there, too.
