Virtua Tennis 3 to run at 1080p on PS3
PS3 News | Sony's new toy finally hits maximum resolution.

After months of Sony bleating on about the advantages of the PS3 being able to achieve 1080p visuals, the first full game to actually run at that resolution on the console has emerged - Sega's Virtua Tennis 3. According to 1UP.com, Sega recently exhibited the game at a Tokyo press event, with signs by the screens indicating that it was running in the much-heralded, maximum resolution. The game joins Gran Turismo HD (which was shown at E3 in May) as the only other piece of PS3 software so far to have been publicly seen running at 1080p.
However, there could shortly be a third title joining this exclusive club. See, it turns out that a Sony representative revealed to US magazine GamePro that developer Insomniac is aiming to get PS3 launch window title Resistance: Fall of Man running at the same resolution. "Right now the game is at 720p and we are aiming to have it reach 1080p by the time the game is wrapped," a spokesperson told the magazine.
Virtua Tennis 3 is set to appear on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PSP in early-2007.
