Resistance: Fall of Man appears to be shaping up as one of the key titles of the PlayStation 3 launch. The game is developed by Insomniac, who were behind the Ratchet and Clank series.

Resistance is set in Europe in the 1950s. The world has been overrun by an alien race only known as the Chimera, a species with an unknown origin that grow by turning other humans into Chimera. The situation is so dire that the US and Britain have linked up to save Europe and Asia from the Chimera. Players will assume the role of Nathan Hale, and your job will be to basically destroy each and every Chimera before humankind is eliminated.

The in-game screenshots appear to indicate that the game is shaping up rather well; at least visually. Resistance is definitely a title we'll be keeping an eye on, so stay tuned to PALGN for all the news regarding the game as we get it.

Not to sound over critical but they don't look all that "Next-Gen". It looks about on par with what is currently available (graphic wise). Obviously screenies are very limiting, so until we I see a video thats just my opinion.

Looks really nice, but I prefer Gears for my alien shooting fix. This looks like HL2 on crack. Not a bad thing, mind you.

Why are all FPS plots so cliche. Anyway not something I would play, but to me its similar to crysis, Halo and Gears of war.

The game actually reminds me of Warhammer. The aliens are like chaos Squigs!

Yeah, nothing does it justice like HD gameplay video. Out of this world. Easily one of the best looking titles I have ever seen if not the best.

Personally, only similarity I see is that they're both non-human, and the colour schemes are awfully similar. But that's just me

Of all the different types of Aliens you see in games (look at Metroid, Halo etc) you have to admit that in the grand scheme of things the aliens in Gears and Resistance look very similar. Both humanoid, both emphasised jaws/mouths, both knobbly skin, both bald, both pale human-like skin etc. Neither would look out of place in the other game.

^In the case of it being generalized across all aliens in different games, I agree with you. IMO I think it'd look a 'tad' out of place if a skinny Resistance alien was running around these bulky looking aliens in GoW, but eh, similarity or no similarity, Both games are a must have for me.

EDIT: I also just realized that the origins of both the Locust and Chimera is really similar. Chimeras appeared from Europe through some experiments of something and spread across the world and has almost wiped humanity out, and Locust were living under the ground, humans pissed them off or awoke them or something, and they came out, spread like a disease and now humanity is on their last thread. Now that I delve deeper into it the similarities are becoming much more visible.

Both titles are shaping up nicely and they are always going to look slightly similar, they have a similar concept.

OMG anticipation has just shot thru the room after seeing that strider pic! The guns are supposed to be heaps creative like in the Ratchet & Clank games.

I don't know which one I want more Gears of War or this! I'm just glad they're both coming out.

Hmm I was hoping that Gears of War would be more action packed but it seems it is a bit more 'defensive' than resistance's all out action.

But after seeing both these vids I know which one I'm more salivating for...

That action in resistance looks absolutely top notch.

Then again I have a feeling that lost planet will be a major contender to both of those titles and imo looks better than both of those games.

Yea lost plant does look awesome (it is capcom after all) but the only thing that's keeping that away from the top of my list is the bounding box type aiming....I just didn't like it. It did work....but I dunno....something about it felt really videogamey. It's hard to explain but everytime I need to aim in Lost Planet the bounding box thing rips me from the immersiveness and reminds me i'm just playing a game.

I should really check out some vids of Resistance in motion as it is like #4 on most anticipated list (Gears of War being #5) yet I haven't seen any vids of it yet!
