Sonic delayed for US PlayStation 3 launch

PS3 News | 360 version still on track though.

IGN have confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog will miss the US launch of the PlayStation 3 on November the 17th. The game was original scheduled to ship alongside Sony's new console, but a Sega representative has confirmed the game will now be available in mid December.

Apparantly the delay is because Sega needs more time to incorporate downloadable content. Strangely enough, we always thought this happened after a title was released. The downloadable content could be anything from new levels to items or even some multiplayer modes, though Sega hasn't provided any details as of yet.

Sonic the Hedgehog is still set for release on the Xbox 360 next week and in PAL territories a week later. Look for a review on PALGN shortly.

Now if only we can delay the 360 version so no one has to suffer through 'next-gen' sonic

Downloable content removes characters that aren't sonic, I'd pay for that!

Hopefully the downloadable content finishes the game without us having to go throuh the pain of poor collision detection, crap level design, absolute garbage controls and a general lack of knowing how to do sonic in 3d.
