Originally released in 1999 on Sony's first home console, Vib Ribbon tasked players with guiding a female rabbit named Vibri along white vector lines that altered their shape in accordance with the soundtrack. Neatly, the game would allow players to use any music CD to play with, generating a unique level from any track.
Now, a return for Vibri could be on the cards. Speaking to PALGN, Matsuura was asked whether or not he'd be interested in bringing the offbeat rhythm game to one of the download services offered by the new consoles. "Yes, possibly," he replied, adding that, "We are discussing the possibility of making a downloadable version of Vib Ribbon on Sony's platform."
Still, it's worth noting that Matsuura also pointed out that we may face a bit of a wait for such a release; as Sony has only recently launched its downloadable service in Japan, the man behind the likes of PaRappa the Rapper clearly feels the service needs to become a little more widely used in his homeland.
For the rest of our interview with Matsuura, in which he also discusses his love for Guitar Hero, his thoughts on the next-gen consoles, and what inspires his games, head here.
