That's according to Sony's Paulina Bozek, executive producer and game director for the SingStar franchise, who told attendees at the Nordic Game conference: "There have been some big media shifts recently and the landscape of entertainment has changed. MySpace is really the new MTV. TV is online, music is digital, products are tools and players are becoming creators. Clearly there is some kind of a big shift going on. It's a new era of consumer participation."
"Our major innovations for the next gen platform are SingStore, which is an online store that allows players to create their own playlist by downloading songs of their choice, and My SingStar Online," she continued. "This is a community platform for SingStar fans to upload photos and video and audio to share with friends."
As we revealed last month, PS3 SingStar will ship with 30 songs on the disc, while a further 300 tracks will be made available on SingStore at the time the game launches. From there, Bozek expects a further 100 songs to be added each month. Tracks by the Black Eyed Peas, Blondie, Cindy Lauper, Destiny's Child, KT Tunstall, Gwen Stefani, OutKast, Coldplay, Pussycat Dolls, Razorlight and Wolfmother have all been previously confirmed for the game.
