Assassin's Creed to get a limited edition

PS3 News | Apparantly actually limited too.

IGN has revealed that Ubisoft is planning on releasing a limited edition version of Assassin's Creed, which is coming to both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

So what exactly will you get in the limited edition set? Well, specialised tin packaging, a figurine of the lead character Altair, Penny Arcade comics, a miniature strategy guide and Assassin themed short films according to IGN. Apparantly Behind-the-scenes videos, official trailers, developer diaries and producer interviews are also planned, but with the game's release still a few months off we'd bet Ubisoft hasn't locked down the exact content just yet.

Usually I don't care too much about Collector's Editions, but when they come with neat stuff like figurines they're all mine. I wants me an Altair.

I remember when this was advertised on play-asia last year with a release date of Feb 07. Im sure heaps of people pre-ordered it as well. It's now 3 months after the original due date and I'm sure the game is only 50-60% developed. I wouldnt expect it until 2008 at least. While the statue sounds good, I hope if this limited edition version gets released here it doesnt cost an arm and a leg.

If that's the one set to UNKLE's 'Lonely Souls' then yes, and it's pretty damned slick! The bit where he is stabbing the guard in the stomach is brutal!
The game really looks to be shaping up well, I think I'll go and lay a pre-order down in the next few days. But which platform to buy for? Hrmm..

Sounds like a pretty decent limited edition.I like when they put something other in than a bonus DVD full of crap and crappy booklets that sound better when you look at the limited edition list to what it actually is..crap..

Actually I hope this turns out well and isn't one of those bodgily painted figurines with paint blobs all over the thing and made from balsa wood.

Plus.. I don't see why everyone is so excited about this game, yeah it looks good, has some stealthy parts, roof jumping but in the end I bet it isn't going to be "OMFG!! check this sh!z out!!11!" good.
I have yet to see a game live up to the hype.

There seems to be a craze for it. Even when it was a PS3 "exclusive" people still wanted it so its not the fanboi's doing.

My beef is with that combat. Looks too drab and realistic, but not realistic in a good way. I did like the combat in PoP:SoT so maybe if the developers thrown in some extravagant combat-aerobatics it'll all be good.

As it turns out, the video I watched initially (handy-cam version of the one show at the Ubidays event) differs slightly to the HD downloadable one - only a few slight differences, but the HD one doesn't have the stabby-stabby that I mentioned previously.
