Gran Turismo 5 coming next year in Japan

PS3 News | A PAL release coming sooner than we thought?

Trying to pin down a release date for Gran Turismo 5 has in the past proven to be a frustrating task. In fact, since Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was announced back in July we thought it would be at least 2009 until anybody was playing Gran Turismo 5.

Well, game creator Kazunori Yamauchi has told Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu that he hopes to have the title ready by next summer, so around July 2008. According to Eurogamer Sony Europe hasn't commented on a potential release date, but it does show that Gran Turismo 5 development is obviously in full swing.

This is the first release date I've seen... we still have two or more year long slips to go.

Hmm, let's hope GT doesn't turn out like the previous games in terms of releasing

Now what about the PSP version? Will it be forever dead and buried in limbo? I would think with the new CPU speed unlocked, this could only help Polyphony.

depends on if you're into all the history behind the cars or not.

the last couple have had "production notes" relative to each car when you inspect them. if this isn't of concern to you, then it should be easily importable.

although it wouldn't surprise me if this doesn't come until 2009 anyway.

I don't mind if this turns out not to be the case or not, it's been a great reminder that a wonderful franchise is continuing! Of course it always would have, I just plain forgot about it.

I wonder if it will have Taks (From Initial D fame) AE86 in it like it has had GT3 and 4 (Same car, just with his decals on it. Even so..)

I personally don't mind if it takes a little longer, as in 2009. More time hopefully means more time to refine it!
