Dynasty Warriors 6 screens released

PS3 News | Will this dynasty ever end?
The Dynasty Warriors series may not be a household name in the west, but was one of the top selling series of last generation in Japan, with main entries and spin-offs alike regularly selling millions. A spin-off of Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms games (based on a Chinese historical novel), Dynasty Warriors was also one of the most influential eastern developed game series of the last few years, with many companies producing clones of the formula, with varying degrees of success.

While the series has lost a lot of it's lustre in the generational change, with Dynasty Warriors 6 selling only a fraction of what previous installments did upon release two weeks ago in Japan, the series still showed it had some clout by helping Sony's PlayStation 3 outsell Nintendo's Wii for the first time ever on a weekly basis.

We've gotten our hands on the latest screens of Dynasty Warriors 6, and we're hoping the generational jump will be what the doctor ordered for the series. Check out the images in the media panel below.

It may be old hat now, but when I saw Dynasty Warriors 2 on the PS2, I knew the next generation had arrived. Hundreds of dudes running around huge levels, battles raging around you, and BULLET TIME! (this was only a year after the Matrix and it hadn't got old yet)

There were some problems, like how groups of guys would just stand around until you showed up, and the enemies had all the AI of Space Invaders (drop down, change direction, increase speed!) but I was sure the move to 360/PS3 would give it the processing resources to fix that with a true soldier-level simulation of the whole battle going on around you, but it looks like they've spent the budget on hair and costumes instead icon_sad.gif

I think I'll get this one... after a lot of disappointing samey games in the series, I think this one will revive it. I've seen the concept art and WOW!
