Assassin's Creed PS3 Update coming

PS3 News | Hopefully sooner, rather than later.
The release of Assassin's Creed has been a little bit haphazard. First the game was delayed in Australia, and then PlayStation 3 owners were subject to occasional freezing. A fix is in sight though with a UK community manager confirming on the official Ubisoft boards that a game update will be coming.

The community manager made the following comment: "Following our recent statement regarding the freeze issues that some consumers are facing with Assassin’s Creed on PlayStation 3, we can confirm that we are actively working on a game update. This update will help improve the stability of the game and will be released as soon as possible. In the meantime thank you for your ongoing feedback and patience." We are hoping the patch is released shortly, and we'll let you know when it is.

Yep, i have stated that this is a real issue for my copy of the game and i am glad to hear ubi are responding to customer complaints. nevertheless, it is a real poor effort to release a game that consistently freezes. Surely they were aware of this when it hit the shelves.

Pretty sad. Ugly face of multiplatform development rears it's ugly head again.

Haven't had a freeze yet, but then again I only got it yesterday. Does any area or anything specific cause the game to freeze? or is it a fairly random thing?

^ My bro had it on a loading screen. It was just after the first intro part into the game.

I think the only reason that console games (Next-Gen ones that is) are being released with some pretty bad bugs is that most of the people who own one of these consoles (360 or PS3) will more than likely have a net connection to update if (of when) necessary.

Not to say all other games on other consoles are bug free, but I think the devs just think "Hmm, well its pretty good, lets release it. If there are any big probs, well just release a patch".

I suppose its worth it to screw those without a net connection to get the game out quicker.

It's frozen on me once and i came to the conclusion that i ran too fast when i just loaded the game. that or killing too many beggars.

Mine's frozen twice in about 8 hours of play, both on loading screens. I can live with that when the rest of the game is so utterly fantastic, but if they're fixing it then I won't complain.

I know my brother had at least one freeze. It was while he was walking relatively sklowly across the roof tops, and not really doing anything unusual. My bet is that it was one of the AI stuffing up, perhaps a missing animation or sound byte.

Well tomorrow is the day of PS3 and Assassin's Creed buying for me. Hope this update is released soon.

It has frozen on me once, and another time it didn't freeze, but I was stuck in the loading world forever icon_razz.gif

i do hope the update is released soon for the good of all ps3 owners but i won't be getting it until next January or February.

Wow, I must be lucky. I've done 3 assassinations and spent numerous hours doing optional objectives and flag collecting and never had one freeze. The framerate drops occasionally, but that's it.

But then, I also have a launch 360 that hasn't crashed on me either!

Yeah, I've been playing for hours (with one forced day off coz i was playin it too much) and only had a couple freezes (when I would go to start an assassination after doing all the side objectives it would say my disc was damaged (which it definately isn't)). , but a reload fixed it right up.
Still, I'm hoping that maybe the update will at least stabilize the frame rate a little... it's nothing serious (actually better than Mass Effect's) but it would be cool.

Had my first (and only) freeze last night when loading the practice arena (where you get tutorials on fighting skills). I had the guy asking me to help train the students in their fighting skills... then when it fades to white to load the arena, it just froze.
Restarted the PS3 and the game and it worked straight away... so something froze in that 1 second loading section.
Luckilly the game autosaves so often..

i guess with the latest firmware update you have to hope that it fixes Assassins Creed freezing problems. Because when i get it i don't want the game to freeze its a really bad experience. It has happened to me several times during gaming in the past and i hate it. What's really annoying with the PS3 is you can't go back to the XMB you have to reset the console and that is annoying.

Thats where I noticed majority of the freezes Ive had to, what also concerns me is that most of these freezes happen while the HD Indicator (Or whatever its called) is on, Im just hoping my PS3 lasts LONG!
