PSP firmware update released

PSP News | 2.82, not 3.0.

The latest firmware for the PSP has been released; it upgrades the PSP's firmware from 2.81 to 2.82. As indicated by the small gap in numbers the update doesn't really do much at all, all the update really does is fix a few security measures. The firmware can be updated through your PSP, or through YourPSP.

Sony have also released a Halloween demo of the thoroughly enjoyable PSP title LocoRoco. Halloween may be mainly restricted to Americans and the odd child after free candy, but we'll take the demo anyway. You don't require a copy of LocoRoco to download the demo, so why not head over to the UK site and get some free candy?

I wouldn't, if I were you. I was running homebrew for about a year, being as cautious as possible, and then my PSP just started locking up until it refused to boot up entirely. Not worth it.

By the by, has anyone else noticed you can download the Halloween LocoRoco demo for free on yourpsp.com.au? I heard that was only for Japan.

The loco roco demo is for every region I think, US, Europe, Japan and Australia. You need 2.82 for it, unless you hex edit.

The halloween LocoRoco demo is actually pretty good. There's some nice new gameplay mechanics like using switches to rotate the world, that the original game doesn't have.
