Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories soundtrack info

PSP News | V Rock, Flash and Emotion are back.
Rockstar has sent through some of the first information on the soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and it already sounds like an absolute cracker. The soundtrack in Vice City Stories appears to be the most epic yet, with over 100 fully licensed tracks.

The game will feature 9 different stations. The stations will cover the following music formats: Rock, Pop, Ballads, Hip Hop/Electro, Disco, Soul, New Wave, and Latin. If you want to listen to the talk radio shows then VCPR (Vice City Public Radio) will be where the citizens of Vice City express their feelings on certain issues.

The first station, V Rock obviously focuses on rock music. DJ Laslow will be back in force and some of the confirmed tracks on the V ROck include:

  • “Queen Of The Reich”
    Queensryche

  • “Lick It Up”
    KISS

  • “Breaking The Chains”
    Dokken

  • “Rock You Like A Hurricane”
    Scorpions

The second station is Flash FM, which was actually a personal favourite for me in Vice City. Flash FM is all about 80's pop and will feature Teri and Toni as the DJ's. Some of the confirmed songs for this station are:

  • “The One Thing”
    INXS

  • “Easy Lover”
    Philip Bailey

  • “The Warrior”
    Scandal

  • “Love Resurrection”
    Alison Moyet

  • “Games People Play”
    Alan Parsons Project

  • “Family Man”
    Hall & Oates

The station will also feature Laura Branigan and Wang Chung, if you're a keen listener you'll note that these two artists also appeared on Vice City's Flash FM. The third station is Emotion 98.3 which features ballads, most of them are relatively romantic too. The songs confirmed to be in Emotion 98.3 include:

  • “Make Believe”
    Toto

  • “Fool If You Think It’s Over”
    Elkie Brooks

  • “I’m In Love With A German Film Star”
    The Passions

  • “I Want To Know What Love Is”
    Foreigner

  • “We Belong”
    Pat Benatar

  • “Private Life”
    The Pretenders

  • “In The Air Tonight”
    Phil Collins

Fresh 105 will include Hip/Hop and Electro tunes. Think of the station as a homage to the whole tunes of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Some of the songs you can expect to find on Fresh 105 include:

  • “Play At Your Own Risk”
    Planet Patrol

  • “Egypt, Egypt”
    The Egyptian Lover

  • “Beat Box”
    Art Of Noise

  • “Boogie Down Bronx”
    Man Parrish

  • “Request Line”
    Rock Master Scott

  • “Freak-a-zoid”
    Midnight Star

  • “Freaks Come Out At Night”
    Whodini

If you're a firm believer in Disco Stu's tunes then Paradise FM will be right up your alley. The station features disco music around the clock; which should tie in well with the neon lights. Confirmed music for the station include:

  • “Can’t Fake The Feeling”
    Geraldine Hunt

  • “Do It To The Music”
    Raw Silk

  • “Is It In”
    Jimmy Bo Horne

  • “Together Forever”
    Exodus

  • “This Time Baby”
    Jackie Moore

  • “Weekend”
    Class Action

  • “It Should Have Been You”
    Gwen Guthrie

If soul music is more up your alley then VCFL (Vice City For Lovers) is the channel you'll be tuning into. The station features with soulful, soothing and velvet encased harmonies from the likes of Barry White and Marvin Gaye. According to Rockstar, VC for Lovers is a station dedicated to those who are skilled in the art of love, passion and romance, looks like i've found my station. Some of the sample tracks you'll find in VCFL include:

  • “Fantasy”
    Earth, Wind, & Fire

  • “It Started With A Kiss”
    Hot Chocolate

  • “Mary Jane”
    Rick James

  • “Nightshift”
    The Commodores

  • “You Can’t Turn Me Away”
    Sylvia Striplin

If you're after a new wave sound then Wave 103 is likely to be the station you dial in. Some of the sample tracks you'll find in Wave 103 include:

  • “Love Action (I Believe In Love)”
    Human League

  • “Love On Your Side”
    Thompson Twins

  • “Everything Counts”
    Depeche Mode

  • “Heart Of Glass”
    Blondie

  • “How To Be A Millionaire”
    ABC

  • “Blue Monday”
    New Order

If you want to feel like you're actually not living in Vice City, then Radio Espantoso is likely to catch your attention. The station features the highly memorable Hector Hernandez, the songs you'll find on Radio Espantoso include:

  • “I Like It (I Like It Like That)”
    Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez

  • “Oye Como Va”
    Tito Puente

  • “Mi Ritmo Es Bueno”
    Bobby Valentin

  • “Quimbara”
    Celia & Johnny

  • “Mi Gente”
    Hector Lavoe

Finally, there is VCPR which is the information station and challenges the listeners with the true issues of the day. In addition to this soundtrack listing, Rockstar have also revealed that the soundtrack for the game will be available to purchase on Urge.com from October the 31st and on iTunes in the middle of November.

Look out for our review of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories as soon as we can urge Rockstar to send us a copy, they're bound to let their guard down one day.

Another scorcher! The best soundtracks in the biz (imo) and I can't wait for this next one. Some of the best (and fitting) music I have in my car is all the GTA stuff.
