Sega Rally coming to the PSP

PSP News | The new one that is.
Sega has confirmed via a press release that Sega Rally will also be coming to the PSP. The game has already been announced for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC and the PSP version should arrive in September.

The PSP version of the game will include ad hoc multiplayer and infrastructure races and has been built from the ground up for the PSP. The game is being developed by Bugbear Entertainment who are behind the fantastic Flat Out series.

“The original SEGA Rally is heralded as one of the all time great video games and this new instalment on the PSP is a great example of updating a classic perfectly for today’s machines,” said Guy Wilday, Studio Director, SEGA Racing Studio. “With the addition of multiplayer Wi-Fi and online multiplayer, there’s scope for players to show off their skills".

Between this and Crazy Taxi on the PSP, and NiGHTS coming to Wii, it's looking like a good time to be a Sega fan. icon_biggrin.gif

Though it's maybe a little disconcerting that the only games Sega seem to be able to do right anymore are predominantly car racing and sports titles (Outrun, Crazy Taxi, Sega Rally, Virtua Tennis, Virtua Fighter).

Where are my good Sonic/Ecco/Shining Force/Panzer Dragoon/Phantasy Star games, Sega?

If the PSP version is going to be like its console brothers, its going to have slippery controls and 3 levels.

i'm looking forward to what this game will bring to the library, hopefully we would be able to play over the net via ps3/wifi.

Remake Panzer Dragoon Saga you morons!! Man i'm so sick of this mainstream crap....Sonic, the Virtua games and Sega Rally get so much limelight itr's criminal. Imo the best games on the sega systems were the Wonderboy and Streets of Rage games but I haven't even heard about these games since the megadrive days! Honestly it's like Sega are so dumb even they didn't know how awesome those titles were. All I see from Sega nowadays is crap cash-ins! Seriously i've got like 2 versions of Sega Rally and i've never bought a single one (all compilations etc), as if I need this game again! Remake some of the real classics sega, not the stuff that sold well cuz it was mainstream. And yea Sega Rally is a cool game but there were other cool games! You've already recently remade Outrun can you just leave the racing stuff for a bit and maybe concentrate on some remaking some beat/shoot-em-ups?

Yea I understand it's all for the cash but that's the reason sega are so crap nowadays imo.

i love Sega Rally.

but i haven't seen a console or home version that does the arcade cabinet any justice whatsoever.

i don't hold much hope for this new version either.

I love Sega Rally aswell, but untill you can get a cabinet with gear knobs, a steering wheel and hydrolic seats (including the game) for about $100 I don't want any more remakes.

I'd much rather have Daytona USA for the PSP... NB, for those of you that don't know, Model 2 emulation on the PC is finally up to scratch.
