Aliens/Predator announced

PSP News | Another movie to game adaptation exclusive to the PSP.
Vivendi has announced today that they'll be releasing Aliens/Predator for the PSP, a game that will be based on the movie which is set to be released on Christmas day. The game will be exclusive to the PSP and is being developed by Rebellion, the creator of the original Alien vs. Predator title.

Alien/Predator is a third person action adventure title. In the game players will assume the role of a lone predator who possesses a huge range of weaponry and equipment. The game will feature an honour point system which will evaluate the player's success based on how closely they adhere to the Predator's value system.

“We’re pleased to once again partner with Twentieth Century Fox to deliver an engaging interactive extension to the film,” said Al Simone, senior vice president, Global Marketing for Sierra Entertainment. “Pitting two of Hollywood’s most popular and terrifying monsters against each other, the upcoming Aliens/Predator movie will provide a gripping gaming experience for not only fans of the film, but anyone with a PSP system.”

We are also pleased that Mr Anderson is not directing the film, because then the game would also suck as much as the last one continuity wise. I dunno though, I always manage to suck it up royally that my screen weeps in any of the avp games. =/

If it's anything like the PC games then this thing will be the bees knees. Provided there are sufficient facehuggers to scare the freaking Hell out of you in any dark room (yes, even when playing as a predator do I fear these creatures).

Oh. Hell. YES!

I love Rebellion with every part of my body for what they did with AvP. God bless you everyone!

Sin, I can honestly say that Aliens versus Predator on PC was the game that first got me into FPS titles. So many hours of joy with that title, both online and off. As a matter of fact, some friends that are very dear to me today were made through Mplayer.

When I got facehugged, it would scare the ever loving sh*t out of me everytime. Just POW - inyer face sukkah!

Pity Monolith made a subpar sequel. The graphics took a cartoony look and the gameplay was nowhere near as atmospheric as the original. I am so over the moon right now.

Oh yeah, AvP multiplayer is where it's at... playing as a marine against my mate, a predator. catching the light emitted from his shoulder cannon even while cloaked and then proceeded to blow him away.

That game was so awesome.

Movie tie-in :O, damnit what made the first 2 games good is that they weren't tie-ins, they had originallity to them, and gameplay that wasn't hindered too much by the licence.
But meh, I can just not buy it and all's good icon_smile.gif, besides it's on PSP so even if it were good I wouldn't buy it because FPS games belong on PC exclusively!

The way I see it, being a BIG fan of the original AvP (Never played the expansion or No.2 should I chase them up?) is that if rebellion are doing it then it will be all kinds of awesome, despite only being able to play as the predator. AvP didn't have much of a story behind it (which was fine), so maybe the story in this will make it great, or make it a complete failure...

The only thing that does suck is that it will be on the small screen, and I don't want to buy a PSPv2 to play it on my TV.

This version is a third person title, which would suit the PSP rather than a first person shooter.

Benno its your call if you want to bother with Monolith's AvP. I honestly played it through with each species and completed it.. and then years later (like this year) I tried it again to give it a chance and just did not enjoy it one bit. I dont know what it is, but Rebellion's rips it to shreds.

I just wish the original would work on my machine. I managed to mess with the .exe and got it to run on my less than stellar Saphire X550, but since im running a 7900GS, she wont give me any love icon_sad.gif

the original games were based and kinda tied-in to the comics (publish by dark horse i thinks)

There was no real semblence of a story relating to any of the AvP comics in Rebellion's Aliens versus Predator. Monolith's had a story as solid and credible as one in a porno film and whilst the graphics looked like something out of a lurid comic, that was as far as it went.
